Executive Director, Digital Media Supply Chain - Media & Metadata

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) has established a Digital Media Supply Chain (DMSC) Agile Squad in order to drive a holistic vision for SPE's end-to-end digital media supply chain by acting as the point of integration between different teams across SPE that touch the DMSC, spear-heading DMSC transformational initiatives, promoting studio-wide adoption of DMSC best practices, and facilitating cross-divisional collaboration. The DMSC Agile Squad will work under the direction of a squad sponsor and steering committee comprised of senior leadership for each business and technology function at the studio. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing holistic analysis SPE metadata, taxonomy, and industry best practice to drive standardization in accordance with the DMSC Roadmap and guidance of the DMSC Squad Leadership.

Responsibilities
• Provide subject matter expertise and advice on industry best practices in shaping and developing the DMSC roadmap
• Oversee and provide technical subject matter expertise on day-to-day strategic project work, reporting of progress to leadership, including financial and risk management to ensure DMSC projects are delivered on time with anticipated benefits on track for delivery.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing story updates in Jira, and providing benefits reporting
• Partner and lead investigations with team on DMSC current state and opportunities through structured interviews, systems analysis, data analysis, education, technical onboarding, and industry research to help drive strategic decision making.
• Support the business planning and implement recommended DMSC enhancements, systems, outsourced solutions, and workflow improvements and methodologies
• Participate in industry forums, supplier demos, and other industry activities to ensure constant awareness of industry trends and best practices
• Occasionally on-board external partners and vendors on asset hygiene, process, and delivery.
• Work cross-functionally with studio and production tech to enable cross-stream tools and the ingestion and curation of studio-side asset, as required.
• Establish best practices for onboarding and offboarding internal and external users of WIP and digital asset management (DAM) solutions.
• Maintain standardization and nomenclature for the classification of assets for all marketing tools as a singular Global model.
• Evaluate the Global metadata model regularly for adjustments and additions as business evolves
• Mapp existing asset management processes, defining improvements, crafting a vision for the future of asset management
• Empower asset managers who are working closely with creatives, producers, and campaign managers to ensure asset management requirements are in place before campaign development begins.
• Oversee and ensure best practices are upheld for our highest importance titles.

Requirements
• 10+ years of relevant experience in Production, Post-Production, or Distribution technical operations.
• Working knowledge of Post-Production, Distribution, and Archival workflows
• Digital media supply chain technology both implementation/projects/operations.
• Digital media standards development, implementation, and enforcement.
• Experience with Media Transformation initiatives
• Bachelors degree required; MBA preferred
• Demonstrated ability and track record with problem solving day-to-day roadblocks encountered by project squads to move towards achieving the larger DMSC roadmap
• Proven ability to leverage Agile methodologies to ensure an iterative and incremental approach to building out destination platforms, and partner with engineering and technology leaders to drive overall software development lifecycle
• Experience building highly reliable, available, scalable, and performant data products, and continuously measure and monitor KPIs to drive improvement to the development process and run state of all products
• Experience in successfully implementing process and technology changes, including the facilitation of major change management initiatives such as policy or standards adoption, migration onto new technology, or establishments of centers of excellence
• Must have experience successfully developing cost savings/value generation initiatives within the DMSC, including workflow, technology enhancements, or implementation of operational best practices
• Experience supporting media systems/workflow development for a post-production or media facility, has deep knowledge of post-production processes, or deep understanding of media systems and the workflows they support
• Have a pulse on the state of the industry, solutions available on the market, and the viability of potential solutions
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with Information Technology and Information Security teams, bringing key stakeholders together collaboratively toward DMSC vision
• Experience partnering with business embedded teams to translate business requirements into technical product strategies and designs
