Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Business Development lead, to join our artist merchandise division. This role combines prospect development and deal development strategy, with a deep understanding of the artist merchandise industry. The candidate will be responsible for identifying exciting new strategic opportunities in world of music and tour merchandise, working cross functionally with internal stakeholder teams inclusive of Brand Management, Tour Operations, Legal and Finance.
The ideal candidate will have a 7+ years experience leading artist relations or business development within an artist merchandise company, an eye for trends, and be business savvy to turn fan passion into successful new leads. They will be comfortable working independently, have excellent communication, and will collaborate well with cross-functional partners across the Amazon Music, Amazon Fashion teams, etc. This role requires working at the strategic level, such as pitching and negotiating with Artist teams to partner with Amazon Music Merchandise, as well as at the tactical level, such as program management of a leads pipeline.
Key job responsibilities
* Develop & Execute a Sales Strategy: Identify and engage high-potential artists and management teams, leveraging historical data (internal and industry) to present valuable target opportunities.
* Drive Program Management of Deal Negotiations: Develop efficient processes to measure deal sale cycle success
* Artist Business Manager and Business Lawyer Relationships: Maintain and grow relationships with artists, managers, and labels to build long-term partnerships leading to compounding deals
* Merchandise Strategy & Innovation: Collaborate with internal teams to continuously evolve pitch strategy and pitch materials
* Data-Driven Outreach: Use insights from streaming, sales, and fan engagement data to develop data-first artist proposals
* Industry Engagement: Represent Amazon Music Merchandise at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and credibility.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals
- Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software
- 7+ years in business development, sales, partnerships, or artist relations within the artist merchandise industry
- Strong network within the music industry, including relationships with artists, managers, labels, and merch companies
- Proven track record of negotiating and closing deals, with an understanding of artist agreements and brand partnerships
- Ability to balance creative vision with data-driven decision-making
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
- Bachelors degree or related professional experience
- Proven professional experience using data to influence business decisions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
