The Challenge Ahead:

The FIFA team is looking for a network engineer to help us build great online gaming experiences for our fans all over the world. You will bring expert knowledge in assessing issues that help our players and put a solid network foundation in place so that our players receive an amazing experience whenever they play our games online. The network engineer will work with other game development areas, our producers and designers. The main goal will be to design, implement and maintain online technologies and networks that will be the backbone of our player's online game play experience. You will also need to manage and optimize network performance and help troubleshoot challenging issues with network connectivity for some of the most passionate and demanding fans in the video game industry.

We're looking for someone who knows the difference between jitter and latency without needing to look them up! You will report to the Operations Development Director and Technical Lead to estimate, build projects and provide excellent results. Above all, we're looking for a network engineer who is excited to use their talent and experience to build a great online experience for all our players no matter where they are located.

What this Network Engineer will do at EA:
• Improve networking systems to improve latency for connectivity across the internet
• Improve the reliability of systems connectivity across the internet
• Work with application owners to understand network performance issues
• Work with network administrators to understand current deployment and suggest performance optimizations
• Debug and improve existing gameplay networking
• Applies advanced Engineering and network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex issues
• Suggest DDOS mitigation solutions
• Balance network performance with security best practices
• Maintain and extend documentation on network-oriented features and systems

The next great EA Network Engineer also needs:
• 5+ years solving network related problems
• 2+ years in the gaming industry
• 1+ years of experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience

Nice To Have Skills:
• Network performance monitoring techniques and challenges, through the whole OSI model
• Deep knowledge of different network solutions and technologies (Routing, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, Firewall, Load Balancer, VPN, TCP/IP,UDP, Cisco, and Juniper)
• Experience with online gaming architectures and engines
• Proficient in optimization techniques and tools for overhead reduction (bandwidth and CPU)
• Ability to work collaboratively with large technical support teams that directly manage the infrastructure
• Knowledgeable in scalability techniques beyond simple master-experience of working on large and global-wide Data Center Projects
• Knowledge of routing within large communications providers
• Public cloud networking solutions
