Job Description
SUMMARY:

Lead Music Business Affairs for ViacomCBS Production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Music Strategy
• Negotiate, draft and conclude renewals and new Viacom global agreements with Record Labels and Music Publishers.
• Negotiate, draft and conclude ViacomCBS-wide license agreements with United States performance rights organizations. Coordinate policy and strategy with such organizations. Collaborate with VIMN GC on strategy for PRO and other music licenses outside the United States.
• Operationalize Viacom music agreements across Viacom globally, advise on coverage and interpretation.
• Support Creative Music Strategy team in establishing music policy and strategy across ViacomCBS related to Music Creation, Music Acquisitions, Viacom Music Library, Composers, Music Licensing, Commercial Releases, Soundtracks, Consumer Products and Viacom Music Publishing.
• Litigation liaison for music-related matters.
• Lead and supervise music-related audits.

Music Business Affairs for Production
• Review and/or negotiate and draft music talent deals, production development deals with music components, PRO and music-rights components in Studio Deals, Soundtrack deals, composer agreements, administration/co-publishing agreements, boilerplate music agreement forms, music distribution agreements and library music acquisitions agreements for Viacom Library.
• Advise Brand executives, client groups, Creative Music Strategy and BALA executives on various music-rights matters, including relating to existing and new deals.
• Partner with labor BALA on Interpretation and application of music issues with guilds.

Leadership and Management
• Candidate should possess leadership and management abilities and potentially will lead and manage Senior Counsel, Contract Manager and Assistant.
• Responsible to oversee outside counsel and project-based personnel as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:
• JD and admitted to state bar NY or CA
• At least 15 years' experience in music business affairs at a record label, music publishing company or equivalent music business affairs expertise at a Studio and/or Network, productions experience preferred.
