Job Description
Spotify is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our business affairs team in Los Angeles [or New York] to support our original and licensed talk (including video) content and studios business! The Director's primary focus will be to evaluate, structure, negotiate, and execute talk, vodcast, and other content-related deals (licensing, production, multi-slate, etc.). The Director will serve as a senior member of the team and work closely with our creative, partnership, advertising, comms, finance, marketing, legal, and strategy/insights teams (among others) to execute and manage such deals and support Spotify's short-term and long-term platform goals and initiatives. This individual will help with ongoing strategy development, communicate with key stakeholders at all levels, and help reform deal constructs.

The ideal candidate will have senior-level business affairs (and some legal affairs) experience in the entertainment and/or digital content industries, with a proven track record of negotiating the material commercial terms of high-level creator/talent services, rights, and content production/licensing/distribution deals.

What You'll Do
• You will structure and negotiate various types of content/creator/talent-related deals with talent representatives, studios, production companies, and content creators/owners related to talk/video content.
• You will collaborate cross-functionally with various Spotify business units on content strategy, financial valuations, advertising, product, and initiatives designed to evolve and grow Spotify's content offerings.
• You will help inform and implement business policies and best practices in the purview of our business affairs team.
• You will maintain awareness of recent developments in technology and industry trends as they relate to our content and platform business.

Who You Are
• You have received your BA/BS (JD is a plus) and have a minimum 10 years of entertainment/content business affairs experience negotiating and interacting with rights holders, talent representatives (agents, lawyers, managers), content creators, production companies, and studios.
• You are an expert in business (and principal legal) issues relating to the acquisition, production, licensing, advertising, and promotion of content. Experience in or exposure to ad/media sales is a plus.
• You have experience in the tech and/or media sector.
• You are highly self-motivated, self-sufficient, and resourceful. You thrive in dynamic, high-growth, high-paced, and multi-faceted business environments and enjoy working with evolving business models and strategies.
• You understand budgets and financial valuations.
• You are skilled at implementing and organizing deal pipeline processes and deal structure templates.
• You have excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills and have worked well in business environments with multiple stakeholders. You are a relationship- and team-builder.
• You are extremely organized, have great attention to detail, and can manage, progress, and deliver on multiple priorities under time pressures.
• You are highly adaptable and can adapt your role as the business grows and pivots.
• You have a business/strategic mentality.
• You are proficient in a language spoken in the LATAM or APAC market (not required but a plus).
• You are ideally proficient with Google Suites.
• You are willing to work in different time zones if/as needed.

Where You'll Be
• This role will be based out of our Los Angeles office

The United States base range for this position is $199,413 to$284,875, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
