Job Description
The Community Relations Coordinator will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Smith Entertainment Group Community Relations department, with specific focus on the Utah Mammoth. The Community Relations department is responsible for creating, building, and managing internal and external programs that embrace our role as stewards within the community and our commitment to providing impactful, world-class experiences that engender loyalty to the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth. We prioritize the Smith Entertainment Group value of Community Obsessed and amplify programs that support youth, growth, and community. This is a non-exempt full time position reporting to a manager of community relations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate logistics of community initiatives or programs, including scheduling, marketing requests, communications, etc. These may include, but are not limited to, internally driven programs, sponsor-related programs, special event/holiday outreach, ticket programs, player initiatives, and cause marketing.
• Contribute to ideation of new community programs and initiatives.
• Assist and support in the planning and execution of community events, including player appearance requests.
• Handle responses to fan mail and general public inquiries.
• Fulfill and track donations via the online donation system.
• Manage the Utah Mammoth community relations calendar and work to update and provide information to the team regarding community relations events and initiatives Assist the Communications Department by providing updated content for the Community tab on the website.
• Collaborate across the company's functional areas and work closely with other internal departments, as well as external partners/agencies.
• Work with communications/PR and marketing departments to ensure coverage of community events.
• Represent CR at recurring internal meeting as requested or needed.
• Manage community relations inventory items.
• Make decisions guided by precedent and based on company policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Entry-level position for an individual with interest and/or experience in community relations, non-profit or event coordination, preferably at the professional or collegiate level.
• College degree in sport management, non-profit management, public relations, communications, or other closely related majors preferred.
• Ability to work well under pressure and multitask.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently.
• Event management exposure/experience a plus.
• Basic understanding of sport operations, marketing, sponsorship, community, and media relations.
• Be detail-minded; have excellent follow through and be thorough.
• Be able to work accurately and effectively under pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to solve problems independently.
• Highly organized, self-directed, solutions-oriented problem solver.
• Possess an excellent sense of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be creative, detail oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.
• Must be proficient in Google applications and possess social media and technology-based program skills.
• Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, nights and holidays.
• Customer-service oriented.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
• This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
• This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
