Senior Analyst, Motion Picture Business Development

Sony Pictures Entertainment is looking for a Senior Analyst of Business Development to join the Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions team.

The Senior Analyst of Business Development will have the opportunity to apply business and financial expertise to the film acquisition and distribution business and contribute to SPWA's strategic direction. This position will primarily focus on providing financial analyses to produce and acquire content for Stage 6 Films, as well as work with internal Sony distribution personnel to maximize the revenue from such content. They will be tasked with working on a variety of content from theatrical releases, to specialty platform releases, to non-theatrical multi-platform releases, in a fast-paced, high volume, high performing environment.

Stage 6 Films acquires and produces moderately budget motion pictures across a variety of genres. Its varied pictures range from specialty films to wide release studio films distributed through the studio labels, including Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, TriStar Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, and Sony Pictures Releasing International. Sony's Stage 6 Films' current slate includes the box office success, A MAN CALLED OTTO, which has grossed $100 million worldwide; the next installment in the Searching franchise, MISSING, which has outperformed the first film crossing $30 million DBO; and Craig Gillespie's DUMB MONEY, which is currently in post-production and stars an ensemble cast including Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, Pete Davidson, Shailene Woodley, America Ferrera, Anthony Ramos, Dane DeHaan, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Myha'la Herrold.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform complex financial modeling and analysis for potential greenlight decisions for SPWA's productions and acquisitions.
• Contribute to strategic planning process by identifying market trends, competitive landscape, growth opportunities and cost efficiencies.
• Prepare cash flow valuation models to analyze new business opportunities, extensions of existing catalogue, and film libraries.
• Interact regularly with SPE's various lines of business including Theatrical Marketing and Distribution, Home Entertainment, Television, Legal and Corporate
• Create and maintain film ultimate models from early production/acquisitions stage through theatrical release.
• Oversee the distribution of product through Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Releasing as well as independent third-party distributors both domestically and in international territories.
• Provide counsel to business affairs executives regarding terms of agreements.
• Perform industry due diligence including market research of industry metrics and data.
• Formulate and prepare presentations to share findings and recommendations for divisional and senior management critical to the decision-making process
• Conduct ad hoc analyses at the request of senior executives and divisional CFO.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent financial modeling and presentation skills are essential.
• Well-honed proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word programs also essential.
• Minimum 2-4 years experience in a leading investment bank, management consulting firm, or media/entertainment company preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
• Must have strong quantitative analytical skills and be able to think strategically.
• Demonstrated ability with time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Proven self-starter and independent problem-solving ability with sense to understand implications of work and raise relevant questions to management.
• Detail oriented, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interface and demonstrate sensitivity effectively at all levels of an organization.
• High level of focus on work quality and attention to detail.
• Passion for media and entertainment, knowledge of the film production business a plus.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to execute multiple, high priority projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) as well as proven ability to work with creative and corporate personnel.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $71,000-$94,100. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
