Senior Manager, Insights - Regional, Publishing Operations

Job Description

As Senior Manager, Insights you will report to the Director of Strategy & Operations for the Americas publishing team. Leading a small team, you will dive into ambiguous publishing challenges to bring the Americas to a better understanding of the performance of Riot's games, esports, and entertainment products.

You'll join the Insights team – the group of researchers, analysts, data scientists, and strategists responsible for solving problems and implementing analyses that allow Rioters to make those difficult decisions. Your research background coupled with your understanding of data will ensure that you're an advocate for players and can provide strategic guidance about their wants, needs, and behaviors.

You will be an important advisor to the Americas publishing team across Brazil, Latin America, North America, and Oceania. These teams will seek your expertise to understand different ambiguous problem spaces, including esports marketing research, game publishing campaign attribution, player segmentation for new games, and business reporting tools. With the support of your team, you will develop a practical approach to go from uncertainty to applicable insight.

You will work with regional leadership in evaluating our existing portfolio, and determining how we can further deliver mind-blowing experiences for players and fans. Performance in this role requires creativity, willingness to try, fail, and try again at a new approach until it's working, and a broad familiarity with analyzing research data.

Responsibilities:
• Hire, lead, mentor, and support career growth for a small team of Americas Insights team members, specializing in two areas: Business Analytics and Research
• Partner with Rioters across Americas publishing to identify & meet their needs with regards to understanding audiences, the competitive landscape, performance, and publishing attribution.
• Set the work priorities of your team, working to complete projects and solutions for a variety of partners.
• Manage vendor relationships to enhance or scale the team's impact.
• Communicate recommendations to senior team members
• Aggregate findings across the Americas regions to deliver foundational insights that improve our understanding of publishing and players.
• Identify new opportunities to improve how Americas Publishing serves players.
• Contribute to the broader Publishing Insights community of practice, sharing best practices and using findings from other regional publishing insights teams and the global publishing insights team.

Business Analytics
• In partnership with the Americas leadership team, develop goals, meaningful metrics, and testing strategy for projects.
• With a focus on business health and publishing support, obtain insights and guide next steps based on regional performance relative to goals and recent trends.
• Analyze and attribute the impact of internal projects & external impacts on regional product goals.
• Develop new dashboards to provide applicable insights

Research
• Help build primary research studies end-to-end; including questionnaire development, survey programming, data collection, and reporting and generating insights based on both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
• Source and manage vendors for testing across audiences and multiple geographic regions

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Psychology, Economics, Mathematics, Anthropology or a related discipline
• At least 8+ years of relevant experience
• 4+ years experience working in analytics, including proficiency in SQL and python
• 2+ years experience working directly in game publishing, esports, sports or entertainment
• 2+ years experience management experience
• Experience supporting strategy for a product or business in a leadership capacity and operationalizing that strategy through ownership or advisory.
• You have experience supporting teams across the organization.
• Contribute to healthy constructive debate with a leadership team
• Build relationships with peers across Riot, and of influencing senior team members

Desired Qualifications:
• Advanced degree.
• Experience in Video Games, Esports, Sports, or Media/Entertainment industry.
• Experience supporting teams across multiple geographic markets.
• Experience in audience research or business strategy
• Command of a relevant language (Spanish, Portuguese, or French).
