Job Description
At Riot, we deliver unforgettable gaming, esports, and entertainment experiences to our fans around the world. Publishing is how we connect with those players, and Publishing teams focus on creating harmonized, holistic experiences around and across our entire product portfolio. Core capabilities include marketing, strategy, commercial partnerships, community management, player support, localization, and other experiences that span across products. Publishing Insights is a team of business strategists, researchers, and analysts that sits within Publishing Strategy & Operations, focused on deepening Riot's understanding of how to engage with players and fans. Our work uncovers meaningful insights that help teams translate product strategy into Publishing actions, define our audience needs and motivations, and measure and test business performance.

As an Insights Analyst III with Publishing Insights, you will serve as a thought partner to business leaders making visible and meaningful investment and planning decisions. Your strong technical and analytical background will help ensure Riot's Publishing priorities and investments deliver desired and data-backed outcomes. You will serve as a senior individual contributor to design and run experiments, educate stakeholders on experimentation best practices, and communicate findings utilizing a broad range of methodologies. You will report into the Publishing Insights Lead for VALORANT. This role is a hybrid work position, with some work onsite and some work from home. The onsite work location is at our global headquarters in Santa Monica, CA.

Responsibilities:
• Experimentation Design and Analysis
• Partner with other Insights, Publishing, and Product teams to scope, design, execute, measure, and improve the impact of our Publishing efforts for our fans and our business
• Analyze Publishing and player data to identify causal relationships between Publishing actions and player outcomes with a focus on all stages of the fan journey - including acquisition and retention, sentiment, lifetime value, messaging and promotions, engagement, and evangelism
• Develop and present slide decks with clear visualizations and narratives, effectively translating complex data into actionable insights
• Take full ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality insights and recommendations
• Capability Development
• Develop Publishing's R&D experimentation priorities, processes, and platforms, coordinating with partner teams to invest in necessary partnerships, tools, content, and data
• Serve as an informal mentor in the professional development of junior analysts and researchers

Required Qualifications:
• 6+ years experience in data analysis, data science, decision science, or similar quantitative fields
• Degree or meaningful work experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Analytics, or relevant technical field
• Applied experience delivering hypothesis-driven experiments including A/B testing, mix models, multi-touch attribution, and geo testing. Ability to leverage these methods for player segmentation, user sentiment analysis, and marketing campaign optimization
• Applied experience in statistical modeling and analysis of large datasets, utilizing sampling theory, significance testing, and clustering analysis (e.g., k-means, latent class).
• Proficient in SQL and one or more statistical analysis platforms such as SPSS, R, Python, or similar scripting language for statistical modeling
• Ability to develop strong, open, and collaborative working relationships with peers and senior leaders

Desired Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in related quantitative field
• Experience working with common self-serve insights and data platforms, such as DataAI (formerly AppAnnie), GlobalWebIndex, NewZoo, NPD, or YouGov
• Experience working with global teams across diverse cultures

We think that the best candidates are those who are energized by figuring out what works and what doesn't. This is a new focus area for many partner teams across Publishing, so proactivity, prioritization, patience, comfort with ambiguity, and a self-starter mindset are essential keys to success in this position.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
