Senior Publicist, Penguin Random House Audio (Hybrid-California)

Penguin Random House Audio is looking for an experienced communicator to join their publicity department working in the fastest growing segment of publishing. In this role, the Senior Publicist will develop and execute strategies to promote audiobooks from Penguin Random House Audio's award-winning list of nearly 2,000 titles a year for audiences of all ages, as well as contribute to special projects such as our growing audiobook original publishing program. The ideal candidate is a media-savvy, collaborative team player who loves books and thrives in a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to work with a broad range of titles and authors.

The ideal candidate will have experience strategizing on and executing PR campaigns, an established network of national broadcast, print, and online media contacts, and excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Candidates should possess strong internal and external communication skills, be adept in time management and multi-tasking, and have the ability to work both independently as well as in a collaborative setting. If you can handle the details of immediately urgent tasks but also remember to step back, consider the big picture, and adjust your strategy when needed, you'll fit well within the publicity team here at Penguin Random House Audio.

This hybrid position has in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, author visits or events, attending select recording sessions for publicity purposes, and other ad hoc responsibilities as required . We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance or ability to feasibly commute to our studio in Los Angeles.

The Role:
• Develop strategies for publicizing the audiobook format and Penguin Random House Audio's titles covering a wide range of genres, including memoir, narrative nonfiction, thrillers, literary fiction, and more
• Act as a liaison to the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group publicity department, developing strong working relationships and collaborating on book launch campaigns
• Write pitches and press releases, book interviews with actors and authors, and placeng audio excerpts with national media
• Research, creat, and maintain media lists, actively cultivating media relationships and identifying new opportunities for audiobook coverage.
• Work with the Editorial, Studio Production, and Marketing teams to identify key upcoming titles and opportunities and contributing to acquisition proposals
• Present title strategy and plans to both internal and external stakeholders in a polished and professional manner
• Collaborate with the social media team to develop title assets and share title news and author content
• Work with publicity & marketing assistant to collaborate on media coverage reports, review mailings, and review copy requests

The Essentials:
• 5 years of publicity experience in trade or educational book publishing is a requirement
• The role is hybrid, so a confident and proactive approach to building relationships with external and internal stakeholders while working from home is a requirement
• Interest in translating their passion for books and reading to focus on audiobooks
• Possess exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Proactive, independent, problem-solving approach
• Displays keen attention to detail, and demonstrates the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Spanish language skills are a plus, but not a requirement

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$73,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
