Job Description
THE ROLE
The Director of Technical Reporting & Research will be responsible for the day-to-day technical accounting functions supporting all divisions of the organization.
WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO
• Lead annual impairment assessments for goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets
• Supervise an Accounting department consisting of 3 managers
• Organize and review quarterly impairment assessments for long-lived assets
• Lead annual impairment memo for long-lived assets for external auditors
• Manage monthly lease accounting including review of new leases, monthly journal entries, impairment, and disclosure
• Review multi-element revenue recognition contracts for appropriate accounting treatment
• Lead quarterly calculation of current expected credit losses for accounts receivable
• Manage non-cash compensation accounting
• Lead quarterly accounting and disclosure for designated hedges and derivatives
• Manage preparation and review of consolidated cash flow statement
• Manage preparation of weighted average shares outstanding and earnings per share calculations and related disclosures
• Manage accounting for debt issuances and refinancing
• Manage implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
• Monitor latest developments in accounting literature and prepare quarterly presentation for CAO organization
• Provide guidance on accounting impacts for dissolutions and disposals of businesses
• Provide guidance to divisions on technical accounting issues
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• CPA certification required
• 10+ years accounting experience
• At least 2-4 years leading a team preferred
• Previous hands on experience with impairment, revenue recognition, non-cash compensation, lease, and current expected credit loss accounting experience a plus
• Public accounting experience a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong multi-task organization skills
• Microsoft Office Suite experience
• CoStar, Certent, Oracle and BPC accounting software experience a plus
