JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox News Channel is looking for an Overnight News Manager for its Assignment Desk. As the Overnight News Manager, you are an aggressive journalist who will be the first line of defense for breaking news in the key overnight hours. The Overnight News Manager will coordinate the work of the assignment desk, media desk, and News Edge affiliate services as our newsroom and stations prepare for their morning shows and the day ahead.

You may be offered the following shift: Sunday-Thursday (10:00PM-7:00AM)

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Confirm latest editorial information for air and planning
• Coordinate early live reports
• Monitor wires and social media for breaking news
• Help gather and clear social media requests for shows.
• Locate new video, fresh sound for ongoing or breaking news stories and make field crews aware of what footage is in house and available
• Work with Fox News Channel upper management & bureau chiefs to coordinate and move crews overnight for breaking news, both nationally and internationally

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• 5+ years experience in Network or major market news gathering and experience supervising a team
• Strong editorial judgment
• A passion for current and breaking news events
• Familiarity with iNews
• Understanding of tape-less workflow in a newsroom
• Ability to find breaking news stories and identify where to get the latest editorial information
• Knowledge of and experience covering national and regional interest breaking news stories, and coordination of field teams
• An instinct for problem-solving
