Job Description

The Media Systems Engineer, Linear Media Domestic-US, will report to the Manager, Media Systems Engineering. This role is responsible for programmatically building workflows with standard automation tools, consistently sustain and resolve system issues and work directly with content operational teams and vendors daily. This role supports Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution at the DC-3 Technical Center in The Woodlands, Texas – ensuring that thousands of assets deliver to our platforms each week to meet 24/7/365 play-out.
The Media Systems Engineer must fully understand the end-to-end media asset and metadata workflow – going beyond a functional understanding to not only fix issues, but constantly assess and improve performance. This person will work alongside other Media Systems Engineers and must be flexible to meet the various scheduling demands of off-hour maintenance and issue resolution.

Responsibilities:
• Works in direct support of linear asset management system, Evertz Mediator and SDVI, and is responsive to needs in receiving several thousands of assets each week
• Has expanded knowledge in Linear asset and metadata management systems – providing informal guidance to other team members as needed
• Monitors the status of key systems, proactively reading reports and status for resolution or escalation
• Candidate is expected to review system trends, generate weekly reports and correlate toward design or configuration solutions
• Assists in the evaluation of equipment alternatives, and equipment selection and configuration
• Develop, automate and maintain efficient file-based workflows for distribution of digital media to broadcast and non-linear outlets while supporting all post production gear and applications
• All other duties as required to help drive business objectives

Basic Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in television broadcast, transmission, IT or related fields
• Demonstrable understanding of media asset and metadata management and workflows from ingest to play-out systems – ability to demonstrate troubleshooting, resolution, post-reporting and improvement.
• Experience in cloud-based and abstracted solutions for media applications.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution in a relevant subject such as Engineering, Information Technology

Required Education
• Bachelor Degree or equivalent years of experience
