What You'll Do
This position will primarily be responsible for supporting the data requirements of our E-Commerce and payments functions. The data scientist will work in a cross-functional team environment under the direction of the Platform Data Science Lead with support and direction from the E-Commerce Product Director. In addition to other responsibilities, this position will own and optimize processes and programming logic needed to capture data, transform into high usability data models, maintain, and validate the quality of both internally and externally sourced data that is critical in our financial and accounting processes.
In this role, you will
• Work across Accounting, E-Commerce, Finance, and Analytics teams sharing KPI-driven reporting and insights
• Partner with ECOM product and programming to design, run, and report experiments to optimize front end and back end payment processing operations
• Develop and maintain standards for dashboards and reporting initiatives. This includes making sure data is visualized appropriately, creating consistent standards, and confirming that all data is accurate
• Partner with stakeholders and programmers to implement best in class data practices
• Provide insights and research into our payment ecosystem from a technical, financial, and user experience perspectiveDocument requirements, develop, and deliver both written reports with analysis and charts on a dashboard
• Take accountability for the quality of data reported by our products, and work with programming and QA to consistently monitor and improve our data in order to produce a world class data ecosystem
• Perform statistical data analysis and next level analyses to showcase the impacts of various decisions around the product
What we're looking for
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a data science professional in a payments or e-commerce environment
• Expert-level skills in Tableau, including dashboard design, performance optimization, and data storytelling
• Strong data modeling capabilities, with the ability to design scalable, efficient, and business-relevant data models
• Solid foundation in statistics and quantitative analysis, with the ability to design experiments, evaluate models, and interpret complex real world data
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, managing DAGs and ETL, and data manipulation in PySpark
• Deep understanding of payment flows, e-commerce systems, and the payments landscape, including processors, gateways, and transaction lifecycles
• Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous stakeholder environments through thoughtful frameworks and strong communication
• Very strong communication skills, capable of translating technical insights for executives, collaborating with developers, and aligning cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in query, analysis, and reporting tools such as SQL (any dialect), PySpark, Python, Tableau, Astronomer, GitHub, and Databricks
• User-focused and solutions-driven mindset, with a bias toward action, adaptability, and innovation in fast-paced environments
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
New York City Base Pay Range
$181,477 — $266,166 USD
California Base Pay Range
$159,700 — $234,226 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$145,181 — $212,933 USD
