Job Title: Assistant Health & Safety Manager

Position Summary: Assists the Health & Safety Manager in the recognition, evaluation and control of hazards to people, property and process at IMG Academy. Provides leadership as a subject matter expert in delegated areas of responsibility and as deputy to the Health & Safety Manager in their absence. Reports to the Health & Safety Manager.
Position Responsibilities
• Collaborate with all IMG Academy Departments to ensure IMGA health & safety policies, protocols and plans are followed
• Assist with managing the campus health & safety requirements during emergency or weather-related situations (note: essential staff may need to reside on campus for several days for extreme emergencies)
• Develop and provide staff training for Health & Safety Topics to include First Aid/CPR/AED, HAZCOM, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Fall Protection. Will work closely with the Learning and Development Manager to utilize online, hybrid and in-person training materials.
• Assist with ongoing Health Protocols (COVID-19, Lice, Bedbug, MRSA, etc.) on campus
• Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, and develop/implement preventive measures
• Participate in onsite inspections to audit physical condition and safe work practices
• Respond to and assist with any campus medical, safety or emergency situations
• Review incident reports, conduct incident investigations and ensure appropriate follow-ups are satisfactorily concluded
• Develop positive relationships with all IMG departments and employees
• Have advance knowledge of campus events, identifying and implementing additional health and safety requirements
• Equipped, able and willing to provide first aid, CPR or use of AED if necessary
• Know, own and support all health & safety and IMG policies and procedures
• Identify defects in current procedures and provide applicable solutions
• Actively contribute to building a strong health and safety culture across the whole of IMGA
• Deputize for the Health and Safety Manager as required
• Any other duties reasonably assigned by the Health & Safety Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
• Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety/OSHA Compliance
• Knowledge or training in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards
• 5 years' experience in a health & safety discipline
• Ability to collate and analyze health and safety incident data, draw logical conclusions and offer innovative solutions to mitigate risks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to write and/or review detailed policies and procedures
• Ability to deliver high quality training
• Ability to remain calm and think logically during all types of emergencies
• Skilled in standards, concepts, practices, and procedures in the health, safety and environmental fields
Preferred Skills
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• OSHA General Industry Authorized Instructor
• Experience in Education Risk Management
• Bi-lingual
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Must be available to be onsite during all emergency events and drills
• Ability to move easily over a 5-mile campus, both indoors and outdoors on a regular basis
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 40 pounds on a regular and consistent basis
• Position requires walking most of the working day
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning and inspection tasks
• Must be able to climb stairs on a continuous basis
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
• Should be able to handle outdoor temperature for a reasonable period of time
• Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
• Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
