EA SPORTS revolutionizes the world of gaming by creating transformational changes in how games are made and played. At EA SPORTS, everyone contributes to creating the future of entertainment, building a community where creativity and new ideas excel.
The EA SPORTS Catalyst Research and Innovation Team is dedicated to pioneering research that propels the gaming industry forward. We aim to invent new kinds of gaming experiences by leveraging recent advances in technology and exploring new paradigms in game development. We focus on forward-looking experimentation and harness the latest technology to uncover what makes games fun for humans.
As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, reporting to the Head of Research and Innovation, you will build the framework and tools necessary to drive our research strategy and innovation roadmap. You will work closely alongside our researchers to develop cutting edge models, streamline their research and bring our innovations to life. Your mission is to redefine what is possible in gameplay by taking our team's research from concept to reality; empowering experimentation, scaling up new discoveries, and contributing to a strategy that brings the future of gaming to life at EA SPORTS.

Your Responsibilities
• Own and drive the technical strategy behind our research roadmap, exploring frontier technologies that will shape the future of Sports Gaming and interactive entertainment.
• Partner deeply with research teams to design, run, and iterate on experiments-hands-on, from implementing machine learning models to building advanced training pipelines.
• Lead efforts in large-scale training, inference optimization, and fine-tuning, pushing both model performance and production efficiency.
• Design and build research platforms, tooling, and data systems that dramatically increase research velocity, including data acquisition, curation, and experimentation workflows.
• Translate research breakthroughs into prototypes and compelling interactive demos that clearly communicate value and accelerate adoption by game teams.
• Stay ahead of the curve on cutting-edge ML technologies-including diffusion models, generative techniques, and emerging AI frameworks-and propose ambitious, high-impact research initiatives.
• Work directly with game teams to understand real production challenges, then craft scalable strategies for integrating research into live and future titles.
• Collaborate across engineering, research, and game development to align efforts and accelerate innovation across the entire portfolio.
Your Qualifications
• A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent advanced industry experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing, training, and optimizing machine learning models in real-world systems.
• A strong technical foundation with a proven ability to bridge research and engineering, turning ideas into shipped capabilities.
• Deep, practical experience implementing ML models, including training at scale, inference optimization, and fine-tuning workflows.
• Familiarity with diffusion models or other state-of-the-art generative approaches.
• A demonstrated track record of turning novel research ideas into robust, impactful implementations that move projects forward.
• Experience with modern AI/ML frameworks, platforms, and tooling, and a strong intuition for how ML can enhance games or interactive systems.
