A place where creativity thrives, new perspectives are invited, and ideas matter. A team where everyone makes play happen.
Role Overview:
EA SPORTS is creating a new Senior Director of Communications role to elevate and unify how we connect with fans, partners, and the sports world. Reporting to the Vice President of EA SPORTS Brand & Communications, this role will serve as a key leader and architect of a next-generation communications strategy-designed to inspire, inform, and engage global audiences at the heart of sport and interactive entertainment.
You will oversee EA SPORTS brand communications, including leadership and executive visibility, business and enterprise storytelling, and cross-functional communications governance. You will also lead a Communications Transformation effort focused on reimagining how we work-leveraging emerging tools, platforms, and AI technologies to improve scale, consistency, and creative expression across our communications, PR, and community teams.
This is a highly collaborative role with visibility across the entire EA SPORTS portfolio, including partnerships with franchise leads (FC, Madden NFL, College Football, F1, NHL, UFC), marketing, creative, employee communications, and EA's Corporate Communications function. The ideal candidate is a globally minded communicator, an operationally strong leader, and a passionate builder energized by driving impact and transformation across complex organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications Leadership
• Develop and lead the overarching EA SPORTS communications strategy aligned to business unit, franchise, and corporate goals.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to EA SPORTS and EA senior leaders-providing counsel on narrative development, priorities, and risk navigation including issues management and crisis communications.
• Build and drive a vision for how EA SPORTS shows up across every touchpoint, with clear frameworks for measurement and evolution.
Brand & Enterprise Communications
• Define and guide the EA SPORTS brand narrative, ensuring clarity, consistency, and relevance across audiences and platforms.
• Lead a high-performing team managing leadership and executive communications across internal and external channels.
• Partner with franchise communications teams to ensure amplification and alignment across key beats, campaigns, and community engagement strategies.
• Collaborate with EA Corporate Communications and global employee communications teams to drive clarity, culture, and connection within EA SPORTS and across Electronic Arts.
Communications Operations & Transformation
• Operate as a key leader in our center of practice focused on shared communications excellence-standardizing processes, best practices, and agency/partner management.
• Oversee governance frameworks, planning cycles, and collaboration tools that support alignment and efficiency across EA SPORTS communications.
• Drive innovation through a Communications Transformation initiative-piloting and implementing emerging technologies (including AI tools) that improve speed, quality, and scale in communications workflows and storytelling.
• Champion new modes of content creation, distribution, and measurement to evolve how EA SPORTS reaches fans, athletes, and business partners.
Team Development & Cross-Functional Partnership
• Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing communications team-focused on growth, creativity, and accountability.
• Foster deep partnerships with teams across marketing, creative, product development, legal, and global communications to ensure strategic integration and seamless execution.
• Bring cultural fluency and global relevance to all messaging strategies, ensuring resonance across diverse audiences and regions.
Qualifications:
• 12–15+ years of progressive communications experience, including senior-level leadership in brand, corporate, or internal communications.
• Proven success leading communications for global brands across complex, matrixed organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to build and implement communications strategies that align brand storytelling with business objectives.
• Expertise in managing multi-functional teams, agency partners, and global planning processes.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and a passion for exploring their role in evolving communications workflows-including the use of AI to enhance scale and creative impact.
• Working knowledge of financial communications and key aspects of US public company reporting and communications requirements.
• Exceptional writing and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complexity and influence at the executive level.
• Strategic mindset balanced with strong executional discipline and operational excellence.
• Team builder and people-first leader with a track record of attracting, developing, and retaining top communications talent.
