News Assistant - Part Time: Philadelphia

DESCRIPTION:

This entry level position is ideal for a candidate that's searching for an opportunity to learn the news business. Assignments vary based on the demands of the CBS 3, and CW Philly operational needs.

Typical assignments include, but are not limited to;

Assignment Desk:

Under the supervision of an assignment editor or other news managers.

Assist in the news gathering process which may include making police rounds, researching stories, providing information to both the broadcast unit, as well as CBS3.com.

Production:

Assistant will also be assigned various production responsibilities including, but not limited to, distributing scripts, pulling file video, ingesting video into the archive system, and compiling video for stories, research, the network or other affiliates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to work well with others in a high-pressure and fast-

paced environment under tight deadlines. Must be able to work flexible hours

including weekends and evenings. Journalism or communications degree

preferred. Previous television news experience is a plus.
