Job Description
CBS Weekend News is seeking a creative and enterprising Broadcast Associate/Correspondent Assistant to work with one of our National Correspondents in a fast paced and dynamic News environment. This person will help craft and organize story ideas for CBS Evening News and CBS Weekend News. They will also provide administrative, scheduling, and logistical support for the Correspondent.
The ideal candidate will have a strong command of journalistic standards, a keen attention to detail, and excellent newsgathering & writing skills, as well as a strong knowledge of, and interest in News. They must be able to prioritize and multi-task while adhering to strict deadlines. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is hungry to learn.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the calendar and contact management, expense report creation and submission, and travel booking and logistics.
• Will field, manage, and help prioritize a high volume of requests related to the Correspondent's role and responsibilities, including coordinating schedules and communication with CBS executives, talent, broadcast staff, as well as external contacts.
• Produce accurate, daily research on deadline for Correspondent's work on the various broadcasts, as well as meetings and other assignments.
• Assist with long term project and story planning.
• Professionally create and respond to correspondence on the Correspondent's behalf as requested
• Assist with writing and/or reviewing copy for the Correspondent
• Research and assist in writing questions for Correspondent interviews
• Ability to travel on short notice, sometimes overnight
• This position will include some weekends, nights and overnight hours for breaking news and planned events as warranted.

• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure

• Strong organizational skills with solid attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong research skills and familiarity with public and private records databases
• Must be proactive and self-motivated and able to work under tight deadline pressure.
• Must be able to juggle multiple priorities.
• Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
• Minimum of two years' experience in an administrative role, preferably in a fast-paced television broadcast or media environment a plus
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, holidays, and/or weekends as news warrants.
• Must have a valid passport and driver's license
• College degree in communications, journalism is preferred.
Work Schedule:
• Wednesday through Sunday weekly schedule
• Wednesday – Sunday: 10AM – 7PM with ability to have flexible work hours as news warrants
• 100% in office
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $40,000.00 - 50,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
