Web Editor (Government Matters)

ABC7-DC is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Web Editor to help grow the Government Matters Media brand. The successful candidate will help continue growing GovMatters.TV to online destination for news and information about the federal marketplace.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Synthesizing video content into online articles
• Writing and reporting news articles and emails
• Writing headlines and teases
• Producing content for our email newsletters and website
• Managing social media and managing the website
• Using metrics to make informed editorial decisions
• Use email databases to drive traffic to our website
• Identifying, proposing and implementing audience development initiatives across our digital properties

Requirements include:
• College degree OR minimum 1-year relative experience in the field required
• Ability to work with a multitude of people and personalities while maintaining a professional work environment

The ideal candidate will possess strong news judgment, attention to detail, copy editing skills, familiarity with WordPress and a strong knowledge of how to reach out to a large audience on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Above all, though, we are looking for a driven, creative candidate who works well under pressure and has a keen eye on the future of digital journalism.
