Reporting directly to the Head of Technology, the Render Wrangler / Production Operation Assistant is responsible for overseeing the activities on the render farm and assisting artists with render issues, as well as managing the digital resources for the current roster of shows, monitoring of renders, image processes, and global data management.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Render queue management, following operating procedures
• Check errors and troubleshoot a wide variety of technical problems
• Communicate with Production, Systems and Render Engineers
• Create and distribute daily render reports
• Script tools to automate common tasks and improve workflow
• Manage farm resources based on forecasted allocation and production deadlines
• Provide global farm support, at times providing coverage for other MPC Film sites after-hours and on weekends

Data Responsibilities:
• Manage data to ensure storage resources are used efficiently
• Archive and restore data when needed
• Perform data format conversion to ensure MPC standards are adhered to
• Coordinate with artists, Production and Editorial to make sure they have the data they need
• Monitor tracking and reporting data usage for each project
• Liaise with TDs responsible for data removal
• Deliver data to clients

Qualifications
• Basic experience with Linux is a must
• Knowledge of lighting and rendering
• Experience with Maya, Prman, Nuke, or Houdini
• Experience with Python or shell scripting
• A basic understanding of VFX and computer graphics concepts and terminology
