DESCRIPTION:

Atria Books is seeking an enthusiastic and detail oriented Assistant to support two directors. The role of Assistant is perfect for someone who is extremely organized, process-oriented, and excels in communicating and working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have an acute attention to prioritization, keen problem-solving skills, and ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a deadline driven environment. This position offers an excellent look at the processes and operations of the publicity team, as well as big-picture insights into the what makes books sell.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Handling administrative responsibilities for both positions, including calendar management, executing mailings, updating author schedules, and assisting with the creation of media lists.
• Providing administrative support in the day-to-day operations of the publicity department, including preparing presentation materials, processing invoices, maintaining supplies, recording media hits, and tracking campaign results.
• Supporting both positions on the campaigns for major titles, including organizing tours, preparing press materials, and finding opportunities for media coverage.
• Conducting research projects for publicity staff as needed.
• Reading widely across the Atria list of acquisitions and submissions and brainstorming with the team on creative publicity ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Relevant experience or internships in publishing, publicity, or marketing
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet quick deadlines
• Superb verbal and written communication skills
• A keen interest in and enthusiasm for book publishing, publicity, and the current media landscape
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as general computer skills
