Motive QA (Montreal ) is looking for an Associate Systems Quality Designer to join an established, experienced team of working on a AAA title in development at EA Montreal.

This is an opportunity plan and guide the quality and planning of tech systems on a New IP product being developed at Motive Montreal by working with the QA, Technical, Design, and Production groups. You will help communication between the QA team and multiple teams including development, Core Tech, release engineers, and Quality Engineering. They will ensure a seamless end-user experience is delivered in the final product, and will help with the reporting of tools, stability and automation for the project. Essential activities will be systems and tech analysis with a focus on game performance, stability, automation, providing both objective and subjective feedback, identifying and mitigation of risks and input on tool creation.

You will be essential to ensure the team is focused on providing the strongest end-to-end coverage and experience for EA's players, and to help EA accomplish its commitment to putting Players First.

Responsibility:

  • Coach all QA teams, help them resolve complex problems and growing their knowledge from a technology and game systems point of view.
  • Develop working relationships with senior members of the development, production and design teams by creating a higher quality player experience through tasks such as feature planning, analyzing internal data/player data, and feature/design reviews.
  • Propose and bring solutions to problems from senior leadership.
  • Understand past and similar iterations of products, perform analysis, use metrics, report on findings, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Support Development groups dealing with essential technologies, systems and tools.
  • Collaborate and Promote best practices across the franchise, and share experience across multiple studios.
  • Help identify technical solutions and automation opportunities.
  • Author tool and game automation to support workflows and testing.
  • Author technical briefs based on user stories, advocating for QA peers during the development of tools and systems.
  • Understand the product, participate in playtest experiences to guide player first feedback.
  • Report progress and status through regular email or face-to-face communication with appropriate managers and other partners.

Who you are:

  • A passion for games and player-first mentality.
  • Experience with game engines and systems
  • 3+ years of applicable work experience working in an embedded, integrated product team.
  • Ability to critically evaluate design, art, and economy that influence player behavior, with the ability to compile data points into a cohesive, consumable, and applicable summary to senior stakeholders on a regular basis..
  • Experience working in a live service development model (i.e. sprints, continual releases, content deployments, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of AAA software/game development, including both agile and waterfall methodologies.

  • Background in scripting, programming, visual scripting or modding is a plus
  • Equivalent knowledge or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (Computer Science, Computer Engineering)
