About WMBF:

WMBF-TV is the NBC Network affiliate for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee regions of Northeastern South Carolina and parts of southeastern North Carolina. This Gray Television owned station was launched in 2008 in Myrtle Beach, SC and was built as a state-of-the art High Definition broadcast facility.

We broadcast 39 hours of live local news and weather along with NBC programming to 8 counties along the Grand Strand beaches westward into Florence, SC. We also use digital media platforms to deliver breaking news coverage to a fast-growing audience.

Myrtle Beach is a family vacation destination for millions of visitors each year due to our white sandy beaches, more than a hundred golf courses, amusement parks and mild weather. It is a pleasure to work in a city where so many people want to visit.

Job Summary/Description:

WMBF News in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC is looking for a full-time assignment manager. This person must possess strong leadership, organizational skills and able to perform well under pressure. The ideal candidate develops and enterprises stories daily and communicates well with co-workers and the community. The applicant must be strong at managing breaking news including severe weather coverage, and be able to make sound, split-second decisions. Successful candidates will be able to generate original stories and develop follow-up content for multi-platform.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
* Develop stories and update them by maintaining contact with sources, including police and government agencies
* Respond aggressively to breaking news and severe weather
* Develop content for newscasts and website, post to social media platforms
* Coordinate crews in the field and communicate updates to the news staff and management
* Help plan special projects and elections
* Help manage news planner
* Maintain the newsroom schedule
* Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
• College Degree in Journalism or related field
• Previous newsroom experience
• Must be versed in broadcast and digital writing styles
• Ability to handle high stress, deadline pressure, and adapts easily to change
• Ability to remain positive and foster a positive work environment
• Willing to work flexible hours and work well with coworkers
• Great organizational skills
• Pre-employment drug screen and MVR check required
