Newshub is a key part of Discovery NZ, providing 365 days-a-year news coverage for New Zealand. Newshub digital is the online news platform and is an important part of the daily news service Newshub digital is a team of news producers who populate the Newshub website. We cover every aspect of news, lifestyle, entertainment and technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a journalist to work for one of New Zealand's largest news companies, producing digital news for its leading website. Digital producers write and upload stories to the Newshub website

Key Responsibilities
• Working in a shift pattern the digital producers write and upload stories to the Newshub website. Stories should include, where possible, a video. Stories are either assigned by the lead editor or sourced by the digital producer.
• Digital producers also source and write original content, stories or angles sourced by the producer.
• Producers also work closely with other areas of Newshub such as the television reporters, packaging their stories for online.
• Digital producers are expected to have a wide knowledge of the news environment in New Zealand and be able to cover a variety of topics.
• Be a clear communicator.
• Adhere to BSA broadcasting code.
• Uphold the company values & expected behaviours in all undertakings related to your employment.
• Ensure you are familiar with the Employer's policies & procedures, & any modifications to those policies & procedures that may be introduced from time to time.
• Carry out your work safely & without endangering or causing harm to yourself, fellow staff members, contractors, customers, visitors, or the general public.
• The Company may, after fair and reasonable consultation, change your duties, from time to time, for commercial reasons but not so as to substantially change the nature of the position.
• Other duties as required.

Qualities Required
• Relevant journalism experience
• Preferably a journalism degree or postgraduate qualification
• Knowledge of a CMS system is an advantage
• Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
• A hard working team player who understands the importance of a team & contributing constantly at a high level.
• A believer of individual drive with team success & shared acknowledgement.
• Extensive understanding of (and passion for) news & current affairs.
• A strong understanding of international news.
• An efficient multi-tasker.
• The ability to work well under pressure.
• Close attention to detail.
• Being able to turn around accurate copy quickly and to deadline.
