Job Description
The Verge is seeking an experienced and multi-talented Producer to assist in elevating our flagship tech news and opinion show The Vergecast. This is a full-time, hybrid, production role based out of the Vox Media offices in New York City. It reports to the Supervising Producer of The Vergecast.
The ideal candidate is a versatile video producer and journalist with deep knowledge of, and passion for, The Vergecast's coverage areas of tech news, gadgets, and culture. They will partner with a team of staff producers and editors, plus freelance talent, to create multi-platform, multi-format content across our video, audio, and social channels, plus adjacent special projects and sponsorship opportunities.
The Producer will help to consistently elevate the show's voice, reach, and visual aesthetic while managing deliverables and deadlines. We're looking for a flexible and reliable creative who can juggle multiple projects in various production stages in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Execute overall show strategy - including creative, publishing, and social - to drive audience growth
• Partner with the Supervising Producer to develop story angles, create prep documents, and book guests
• Participate in daily production meetings and help delegate show resources to hit aggressive publishing deadlines
• Operate and direct in-studio, remote, and live event recordings
• Work with talent to sharpen editorial POVs and on-camera presence
• Provide creative direction and feedback across both audio and video edits
• Step into the production pipeline where needed - including audio and/or video editing, finish, and output - to deliver both audio and video versions of episodes
• Identify, edit, and optimize short-form clips for social platforms as needed
• Partner with our Publishing & Audience Lead to optimize content for social platforms, and quickly shift publishing priorities based on audience analytics and breaking news
• Help define and maintain The Verge's industry-leading video style and editorial voice, allowing for consistent, repeatable output
WHO YOU ARE
• You have a passion for and knowledge of The Vergecast's coverage areas of tech news, gadgets, and culture
• You have full-stack production pipeline experience in both audio (for podcasts) and video (for YouTube) - from development through pre-production, post-production, packaging and publishing
• You have the ability to assemble clear and thorough research, prep documents, and third-party clips on short turnarounds
• You have experience operating both in-studio and remote audio and video recordings
• You have expert-level experience with Adobe Creative Suite - equally comfortable making edits in Premiere, motion graphics in After Effects, and thumbnails in Photoshop
• You have proficiency in Adobe Audition, ProTools, or similar DAWs for audio cleanup and mixing
• You have a keen eye for identifying short moments within larger conversations to clip and optimize for social media, reflecting the latest platform trends and best practices
• You have sharp journalistic storytelling skills and experience producing across multiple formats (i.e. short-form, mid-form, and long-form audio and video)
• You are skilled in the art of giving and receiving direct feedback, striking a balance between partners' creative contributions and greater show necessities
• You can quickly navigate a matrixed organization to solve problems and streamline processes, working with multiple stakeholders with sometimes conflicting priorities
• You have the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment, make crisp editorial and prioritization decisions, while delivering against tight deadlines
• You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate positively with people with different personalities and working styles
• You show grace under pressure, high integrity, and have an emotionally intelligent communication style

PAY TRANSPARENCY
The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
Pay Range
$81,000 — $95,000 USD
