Ubisoft International Production is the headquarters of our network of production studios and plays an essential role in the conception of our games. Closely working with top management and our studios worldwide, our role is to support the various project teams on different topics (production processes, design, content, game direction, financial planning, human resources) in order to enable them to develop high-quality games while maintaining an editorial and strategic coherence. This particular position allows our team members to benefit from a global overview of all our current projects under development.

Within the headquarters of our production studios, As an Expert in Storytelling and script, you will report to the CCO and be the Key Partner in the definition and execution of the Narrative strategy. The VP Editorial, Narrative, you will champion the discipline through the organization working closely with the Executive team as well as the core teams. You will be overseeing the narrative quality across our portfolio of projects and brands making sure that we provide engaging, thrilling, and groundbreaking stories that will provide an emotional resonance to our audience.

At Ubisoft we consider the narrative discipline central to the game production process and the memorable experience we want to provide to our players.

Responsibilities:

Turning point of the Narrative strategy:
• You will ensure the alignment of a project's narrative vision with the core game pillars, strategic objectives, the respective brand, and Ubisoft's global editorial vision, closely collaborating with key stakeholders in Editorial, Brand Portfolio Management, Publishing and the production studios.
• You will advise top management and other key leaders on strategic decisions regarding ongoing and new projects and are actively involved in the definition of Ubisoft's Editorial vision and strategy.
• You will develop tools, processes and guidelines to help HQ teams assess the quality of a project's narrative, and production teams define and execute their intentions for the narrative experience.
• You will manage, guide, mentor, and grow your team

Armed with a holistic and production proof vision:
• You will provide evaluation and expert analyses to top management at HQ concerning the quality of the narrative content, narrative design, narrative structure, script and experience of our games in development.
• You will proactively anticipate and identify stakes and challenges relative to narrative content and find the relevant actions to undertake with top management, project leaders and studio management.
• You will provide expert support and problem solving to production teams concerning the narrative content and experience of our games in development (story development, worldbuilding, tone, environmental storytelling, scriptwriting, narrative design…);
• You will set up metrics that will allow the narrative team to provide a deep mature and thought-through vision for the narrative experience

Capable to engage, foster and create valuable content to internal and external communities:
• You will coordinate the animation strategy of the Creative Content & Design communities in collaboration with the editorial department

Qualifications

Ideally,
• You have significant experience in the video games, film, TV, or literary publishing industries as Writer, Story Editor, Creative Producer, Development Executive, or a similar role;
• You have expert knowledge and strong competencies in the narrative design discipline
• You have a sharp understanding of storytelling techniques and best practices in video games, or the equivalent in film, TV or literary publishing and are apt to transfer them to an interactive medium;
• You have a strong understanding of video games and pop culture, and an extensive literary, film and TV culture;
• As a plus, you have had significant exposure to game development, and have a thorough understanding of production environments.
• As a plus, you have an academic degree in Literature, Drama, Film Studies, or Creative Writing;
• You have a proven track record of building and managing writers ;
• You possess excellent communication skills and enjoy influencing and creating consensus while being considerate of the multiple stakeholders you interact with;
• You feel comfortable holding meetings and workshops via video call.
