Freelance Photographer/Editor
Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news.
WBNS, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in Columbus, OH is seeking a Freelance Video Editor/Photographer to join our news department.
The ideal candidate is proficient at creating captivating and shareable content for television, social media, and mobile platforms.
You must be a self-starter who is technologically savvy and can work under tight deadlines.
We are looking for individuals who possess a keen artistic eye, a deep understanding of editing and photojournalist techniques, and a passion for storytelling.
The freelance video editor/photographer works closely with executive producers, producers and reporting staff in the newsroom. The ideal video editor possesses excellent communication and organizational skills; must work well under pressure, within a team environment and have the ability to think outside-the-box when it comes to editing.

Responsibilities:
• Editing a variety of video elements including voice-overs, SOTS, packages, graphics and teases for both broadcast and digital.
• Ability to operate non-linear edit systems, experience with Edius and Adobe Premiere.
• Coordinate incoming video feeds to record and route video and sounds to other parts of the building.
• Must always have a professional demeanor and work well/as a team player with news team and staff
• Ability to multi-task, handling editing assignments and capturing feeds and FTP material, while constantly monitoring quality control editing to scripts and producer notes
• Work closely with news producers, reporters, photojournalists, and the digital team to create content across all platforms
• Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer
Requirements:
• BA/BS degree preferred
• Knowledge of non-linear editing systems using Edius, Premiere, and Photoshop
• Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
• Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable
• Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under deadline pressure
• Excellent communication skills
• Must be able to work early mornings, nights and weekends
• The ability to adhere to brand guidelines and standards is also a must
