CBS 8 NEWS is searching for a creative, talented, and dynamic Anchor/Reporter to join our team. The successful candidate is dedicated to local storytelling and turning enterprise stories into newscasts on multiple platforms. Responsibilities:
• Serve as primary anchor for the weekday 7 p.m. newscast and fill-in anchor for evening broadcasts as needed.
• Contribute content to other newscasts and the station's streaming platform, reporting and producing assigned stories and special coverage.
• Write, edit, and proofread news stories swiftly and accurately under tight deadlines.
• Develop and pitch original, engaging, and innovative story ideas for both early and late newscasts, overseeing the process from asset gathering through writing, editing, and on-air presentation.
• Demonstrate outstanding creativity and excellence in both presentation and writing across all formats.
• Strategically leverage social media for news gathering, cultivating sources, and fostering community engagement.
• Deliver daily content across multiple platforms, including the station website and social media, while actively engaging and building dialogue with the audience and followers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships and contacts within the community to enhance news coverage and story development.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in broadcast journalism in an on-air role. Must submit a demo reel demonstrating reporting and anchoring experience.
• Thorough understanding of journalistic ethics and best practices.
• Proficiency in AP style writing and strong copy-editing skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in non-linear video editing software (such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar platforms).
Pay Range
$84,000 - $100,000 USD
