KSWB-FOX5 and KUSI-IND-Nexstar Media Group, Inc.'s powerhouse San Diego duopoly-is seeking a visionary, collaborative, and digitally fluent News Director of Multiplatform Content to lead one of California's most influential local news operations across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
This forward-thinking leader will drive an audience-centric strategy rooted in platform-agnostic distribution, omnichannel engagement, and next-gen storytelling-delivering impactful, always-on content that reaches consumers anytime, anywhere they consume content.
What You will Do:
• Lead the vision for a fully integrated, 24/7 multiplatform newsroom with a strong digital first mindset
• Develop and implement strategies that grow audience across linear, OTT/CTV, web, app, and social platforms
• Accelerate digital transformation with data-driven decisions that elevate reach, engagement, and loyalty
• Oversee the creation and curation of always-on digital content for our combined website, mobile apps, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms
• Supervise streaming operations for live newscasts, breaking news, original content, and special community events and live local sports
• Champion the adoption of cutting-edge tools, analytics, and workflows to fuel digital acceleration
• Drive next-gen storytelling tailored to platform behaviors and optimized for user experience
• Set and uphold standards for editorial quality, visual presentation, and brand consistency
• Foster a newsroom culture of digital fluency, agility, innovation and accountability
• Collaborate with Creative Services to develop and execute integrated cross-platform campaigns, including news integration and sponsorships
• Build, lead, and mentor on-air talent, a high-performing content team, including digital producers, MMJs, editors, and creators
• Work with station leadership on strategic planning, budgeted resource allocation, and capital investment
• Manage newsroom operations in a collaborative and respectful environment
• Represent the stations in community partnerships, events, and civic engagement efforts
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field-or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of senior-level newsroom or content leadership, ideally with a proven record of digital transformation
• Demonstrated success leading integrated broadcast and digital news teams
• Strong editorial judgment, newsroom leadership, and decision-making under deadline
• Deep understanding of digital-first content strategies, audience growth, and platform-specific best practices
• Proficiency with CMS, analytics tools, SEO, social publishing, and digital video distribution
• Skilled coach and mentor with a commitment to building diverse and high-performance teams
• Experience managing newsrooms and employment contracts
• Must be willing to relocate to San Diego and work a flexible schedule as needed
• Must pass a background check and be authorized to work in the US

SALARY RANGE: $225,000 - $250,000 Annualized - commensurate with experience and skill level.
