Job Description
Research Manager, Iberia - Maternity Cover

Research Manager, Iberia

Based in Madrid

6 month fixed term contract for maternity cover - May to October

Sony Pictures Television's Research department is a global team with staff in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The team is responsible for supporting SPT's channels, content distribution and international production businesses with market and audience based quantitative and qualitative research, across all international territories for all television platforms.

This maternity cover position will play a key role in providing strategic analysis to Sony's Networks in Iberia and highlights the importance of data driven insights within the organisation.

Based in Madrid the position will be heavily involved in the heartbeat of Sony's channels' business, while also connected to regional and global industry trends. Collaborating with other Research colleagues in the EMEA region and other functions such as Programming and Marketing within SPT will be fundamental to success, ensuring research is used effectively in driving decision making and influencing external partners and industry relationships.

Your main missions:
• Gain an in-depth knowledge for Sony's channel brands and position, content, scheduling, and strategy. Use available data sources and relevant regional insights to enhance how the business makes decisions on the future.
• Quickly pick-up existing insight toolkit - training and support from regional colleagues will be prioritised at the start of the contract.
• Work closely with Sony's in-house Research agency to collaborate on core projects for the Iberia Channels business.
• Deliver timely regular reporting to communicate outcomes for the business and wider audience understanding. Share these findings outside of the Iberia region.
• Assess opportunities for new projects that can generate impact and ROI for the business. That could be through existing secondary research tools, bespoke primary research, or new vendor relationships.
• Build strong relationships with internal business partners and stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and industry peers.
• Work independently with a great deal of autonomy, owning the role of Research expert for your stakeholders in Management, Programming and Marketing. Share relevant industry themes and insights back to Research colleagues outside of Spain.

Your profile:
• From 5 years' experience in a similar role or within the relevant media industry.
• Experience of a Research role within a linear channels business would be preferred.
• Proven ability to apply TV measurement data and primary and secondary research datasets.
• Skilled in managing deadlines and collaborating across functions in a media organisation.
• Passion for the film and television industry, particularly Hollywood movies and US TV series and an in-depth knowledge of the local market consumption behaviours and key players.
• Advanced MS PowerPoint and Excel skills with the demonstrated ability to use complex formulas and pivot tables. Competency using, or interest in, data visualisation tools (specifically Tableau) and working with big data sets to derive business insights.
• Fluent English and Spanish are essential
