Job Description
Manager/Production S3

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Canada/International Production Safety and Security, the Manager of Production S3 shall, at a minimum, perform the following job functions:

Production Safety
• Support the implementation, operationalization and ongoing management of SPE's Production Safety program.
• Provide field level oversight to SPE's production partners operating in Canada, with an emphasis on the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec
• Ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial safety regulations, industry best practices and internal policy and procedure as they relate to Occupational Health and Safety in the production environment.
• Provide guidance, resources and direct/indirect support to production executives and producers in the area of Production Safety including, environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, environmental hazard (e.g. Lead, asbestos, mold) recognition and mitigation, and COVID prevention and operational protocols across Canada.
• Provide subject matter expertise to department heads and supervisors during prep and physical production to help ensure a safe and healthful workplace. Provide training and expertise on occupational safety and health to cast and crew.
• When required, support and assist in the development and implementation of general and operational specific written risk assessments.
• Provide oversight and compliance with Canadian regulations including Joint Health and Safety Committee, New and Young Worker Orientation, working alone requirements, WHIMIS compliance and other uniquely Canadian requirements.
• Serve as the point of contact with regulators including WORKSAFE BC, Ontario Ministry of Labour, Quebec Workers Compensation Board and other Province specific regulatory agencies
• Serve as the SPE representative to Canadian based industry trade groups, including Section 21 Ontario.

Production Security
• Provide guidance and consultation and direct/indirect resources to SPE production partners on physical security within the production environment. This may include, security site assessments, safeguarding assets and intellectual property, investigation of security matters, liaison with law enforcement and security vendors.
• Work in conjunction with SPE Security and Investigations, Content Security, and the SPE Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to support security initiatives, investigations and proactive/reactive plans or actions.

Production Sustainability
• Working directly with S3's Sustainability Department this position shall support Sony Group's ''Road to Zero'' sustainability program across the production in Canada/International territories.
• Provide direct training, guidance on production sustainability goals and best practices to production partners
• Conduct routine audits and program review of productions to ensure effective compliance with SPE's Sustainability goals.

Additional
• Provide production safety support outside of Canada in ''crown'' countries not covered by regional safety teams (i.e. AUS/NZ) and secondary support in UK region when determined to be necessary by management.
• Work closely with internal SPE groups including, Risk Management, Legal/Labor Relations and other S3 entities, often acting as the liaison between SPE Corporate and its Production partners.
• Act as the liaison to production for interaction with State, Provincial and local regulatory agencies specific to Safety, law enforcement and environmental compliance.

Core Responsibilities
• Production Safety program implementation and management, guidance, consultation and oversight on issue related to Occupational safety and health in the production environment
• Production Security assessments and reviews, consultation on physical security matters and security best practices
• Support S3's Sustainability Program and objectives in the region and provide direct guidance to production partners on sustainability initiatives.

Job Requirements
• 1-3 years of experience in the Field of production safety or occupational safety
• 1-3 years of experience in the Field of law enforcement, military policing or private security
• 1-3 years of experience in the Field level production safety experience on both motion pictures and television productions across Canada and within ''Crown'' countries.
• Extensive knowledge of Federal Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as individual Provincial regulations including Ontario and Quebec.
• Extensive knowledge of Section 21 and Quebec WCB Safety Bulletins (industry best practices) as well as US and European Safety Standards and when/how they should be implemented on production.
• Extensive knowledge of the motion picture/television physical production process, particularly in Canada.
• Working knowledge of basic electricity, structural engineering concepts, construction practices, environmental hazard recognition, fire and life safety, fall hazard mitigation (competent person training) and pyrotechnic use, storage and disposal practices.
• Ability to provide high-level guidance and consultation on physical security processes and protocols within the production environment.
• Ability to self-manage and work independently with little direct oversight.
• This positions may require travel (up to 50%) across Canada and other international territories as necessary.
• OSHA 30 Hour (or Country specific equivalent) training required, NEBOSH Certification preferred
• College level course work relating to Fire and Life Safety compliance, emergency management, industrial hygiene or construction/ occupational safety desirable.
• Previous experience in law enforcement or corporate/industrial security preferred.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $94,300-$121,700 CAD. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
