Manager, Digital Distribution

The Manager, Digital Distribution will work with the Vice President and Director of Digital Accounts to drive transactional digital film and television revenue (EST/VOD) for SPE's portfolio of content at Apple, Redbox, Microsoft and Comcast. The Manager serves as an expert on their account's strategies and priorities while representing the interests and perspective of SPE's digital business. The Manager will work with internal cross-functional teams to plan and execute retail activations and promotions through the complete home entertainment lifecycle of film and TV product (new release and catalog) and collaborate internally to promote growth in all segments of Sony Pictures Distribution.

Responsibility:

P&L management

Meet or exceed budget and goals

Provide input into account goals and allocations

Track performance vs. goals; push for incremental placement as needed to hit goals

Ensure compliance on agreed pricing, deal terms, and on-store product presentation and compile merchandising recaps as needed

Primary Account Point of contact: internal and external

Manage channels of communication

Set the ongoing agenda of tasks and priorities

Problem-solve internally and externally

Presentations For managers supporting a Director/Exec Director:

Support/coordinate business reviews as needed.

For managers directly responsible for an account:
Own Process for periodic business reviews.

In conjunction with key internal stakeholders, coordinate, and craft business presentations.

New Release Planning

Study account strategies and priorities through consistent account interaction and research, and incorporate learnings into internal strategies

Plan new release activations with the Retail Marketing team

Negotiate levels of support with retailers

Coordinate with internal support teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and flawless execution of new release plans

Catalog Management
Optimize catalog revenue through short-term promotional activity and long-term strategy

Assess strengths, weaknesses, and respective strategies of each account

Maintain a calendar for planning and reporting

Recommend title selection and pricing on regular promotions

Negotiate levels of support with retailers

Conceptualize and execute innovative customer activations and special initiatives (e.g., 3rd party partnerships) to stimulate customer acquisition and retention

Ensure operational efficiency with support teams internally and externally

Review post-mortems to gain insights and improve on-going strategy

Monitor and correct steady-state new release and catalog pricing discrepancies to maintain optimal pricing

Business Expert

Understand the interests and perspective of SPE's digital business

Be an expert on the perspective of SPE's retail partners, including strategic priorities, financial objectives, and engineering queue.

Maintain an up-to-date awareness of market trends across the entire entertainment ecosystem

Retain a full understanding of SPE's strategies and tactics in TVOD (product, marketing, pricing, etc.)

Deal Negotiation

Support deal negotiation with fiscal and strategic analyses

Leadership

Manage cross-functional teams (e.g. set priorities, and assign tasks)
Owns assigned accounts or supports Director/ED on key accounts

Act as account lead in internal meetings

Set regular internal and account-facing check ins.

Education, Years of Experience, Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required:

Education
• Bachelor' degree required
• MBA preferred
• 5+ years of prior experience in entertainment, digital media, consumer goods, strategic planning, or management consulting

Knowledge
• Demonstrable knowledge and interest in the digital media landscape and technology
• Passion for film and television content
• Understanding of general marketing strategy
• Knowledge in finance and economics a plus
• Experience in customer facing situations or retail environment

Skills
• Excellent communication skills, including presentation development and delivery
• Exceptional facility with PowerPoint
• Demonstrable analytical and mathematical skills
• Ability to think strategically at a high-level, and drill down into tactics
• Proficient with MS Excel
• Ability to work across multiple teams and with multiple stakeholders
• Team-oriented with a high EQ
• Strong interpersonal skills for building and developing strong client relationships
• Effective project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize successfully
• Self-motivated and dedicated to performing above expectations
