IT Digital Video Trainee, Content Technologies – Summer/Fall 2023

This Summer/Fall Trainee position is from May/June through December 15th and all candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday in the specified location. This is not a remote role. A hybrid work option may or may not be available.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The Digital Content Technology Services(DCT) team, a part of Information Technology, provides Content Creation Pipeline Services for the entire studio. These services cover each part of the Content Creation Pipeline. Services range from Production Consulting, Live Streaming and Remote Editorial to Dailies, VFX Production Support, and Sales/Marketing support. We are searching for a Digital Video Trainee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Digital Content Technology/Systems Admin

Assist in workflow analysis for proposed new opportunities and/or existing ones. This includes transcoders, editing systems, delivery platforms, automation tools, anti-piracy technologies and any future requirements. Assist in the evaluation of new technologies from Pilot to implementation. Use existing transcoding and delivery platforms to perform job duties.

Administration

Work closely with the DCT team to summarize complex workflows via detailed documentation. Comfortable learning and interacting with existing digital systems to submit change requests and update project status.

Content Servicing:

Prioritize and process a variety of requests from internal and external customers. Create files to customer specification and deliver content per client's instructions using industry standard technologies.

Sales Servicing

Prioritize and process a variety of requests from internal and external customers. Create files to customer specification and deliver content per client's instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:
• Video and audio specifications (video/audio codecs, commonly used formats, industry standards for tape/file creation)
• Industry developments (clients, competitors, technology) by reading trade press, SPE news clippings, discussions with internal and external clients.
• Production and Post-production workflows.
• Aspera, Elemental, Vantage, Mediafly, Baton a plus.

Skilled In:
• Computer troubleshooting Hardware/Software (windows/mac/linux)
• Transfer protocols (cifs, smb, sftp, aspera)
• Transcoding and/or Editing platforms
• Video/Audio Quality Control
• Storage platforms and backup procedures

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability To:
• Organize data from variety of sources and communicate information in a clear, professional manner to V.I.P. clients.
• Prioritize critical tasks.
• Work effectively in a team.
• Operate in a fast-paced quick turnaround environment.
• Lift and deploy computer equipment up to 40 lbs.
