Senior Counsel, Digital and TV Networks

Sony Pictures' Legal Department is searching for an exceptional attorney who thrives in a collaborative team environment to support Sony Pictures Television's Digital and TV Networks operations. Sony Pictures Television owns and operates a portfolio of on-demand and linear digital and television networks, and mobile games around the world. These include, among others, Crunchyroll, Funimation and Pure Flix, a number of FAST linear channels and mobile games such as Wheel of Fortune and My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero. Based in Culver City, California, this attorney will work with Sony Pictures Television senior executives in the US and abroad and will manage a wide range of legal matters for the group, from the formation and launch of new services and the acquisition of services, to their daily operations and the development of innovative digital opportunities exploiting new technologies. The successful candidate would be involved in structuring, negotiating, drafting and advising on a variety of transactions and matters, including distribution of digital and linear channels, content services and games in all media and across all platforms, including internet, mobile, cable and satellite; game development and production deals; website launches and oversight; advertising sales and media planning; cutting edge privacy issues; advising on mergers and acquisitions and formation of joint ventures with US and international partners; technical services, digital, software and other vendor agreements; and regulatory and corporate compliance.

As a member of Sony Pictures' Legal Department, the successful candidate will be part of an experienced, collaborative and supportive legal team. In addition to working with senior business executives, this attorney will work closely with all other commercial and legal experts within Sony Pictures, including marketing, music, production, intellectual property, business development, privacy, digital security, government affairs, litigation, tax, antitrust and labor.

The successful candidate will have outstanding academic credentials and a minimum of 4 years of transactional or commercial experience with a major law firm or media, entertainment or technology group. Experience in linear and on-demand networks operations, content distribution, new media and entertainment transactions (law firm or in-house) is preferred. Valuable areas of expertise include international transactions, mergers and acquisitions, marketing and promotion, privacy, software licensing, and intellectual property.

Requirements:
• At least 4 years' transactional experience with a major law firm or media, entertainment or technology group.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
• Able to work both independently and as a team player
• Assertive, detail-oriented, and able to accommodate tight deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• California Bar
