Software Engineer - Rigging Efficiency

We are looking for a passionate technical artist to focus on innovative solutions for rigging and animation efficiencies. The ideal candidate is a strong coder, investigator and communicator who is looking to collaborate on projects of varying size with an emphasis on meeting the needs of productions with time-sensitive deadlines.

Candidates must have strong technical chops and enjoy collaboration with other developers and TDs. They must be at ease working with little supervision yet still able to meet both short term and long term goals.

Responsibilities:
• Develops and supports rigging and animation tools, workflows, and optimizations
• Works with the Rigging HOD and internal Software Engineers to optimize rig design to achieve optimal performance for animation
• Works with the Rigging HOD and Rigging Software Engineers to improve tool sets for rigging artists to gain efficiency in their workflow
• Establishes and enforces a baseline for character rig performance at the studio
• Evaluates third party solutions and creates new tools to make existing and future assets portable across DCC's and/or platforms
• Looks for opportunities to reduce complexity and provide more dynamic rigging solutions for the animation department

Required skills:
• Experience with Python scripting (PyQt/PySide experience a plus)
• Strong problem-solving skills, specifically identifying performance bottlenecks and offering new solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with C++ is a plus
• Experience with maya API a plus
• Experience with Autodesk maya profiler a plus
• Experience with Unreal Engine a plus
