Overview

The SPE London office supports four TVD Distribution teams that work across all international territories: Global Digital, Ancillary Revenue, Formats, and Marketing. The role of Finance Director Digital & Ancillary Revenue provides these teams with planning, analysis, insight, and control. This role also acts to link the London based International commercial teams with other areas of Finance such as Home Office Divisional Finance, Regional Finance, Global Tax Office and Global Financial Operations.

This role will require excellent communication skills as this individual will have to work effectively with commercial teams across all international territories, as well as multiple finance teams operating in multiple time zones. The individual will have to be highly analytical in order to review and critique complex commercial modelling. Finally, as these teams deal with emerging and innovative new products, this individual will have to have a good understanding of digital products and the media sector.

Core Responsibilities

Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting:
• Working with the global team and territory commercial & finance teams to ensure that initiatives such as the digital acceleration project get included within forecasts using consistent methodologies that are clearly reported and explicable to senior management
• Preparation, review and presentation of budgets, forecasts and Medium Range Plans (MRPs) for Global Digital, Ancillary Revenue, Formats, and Marketing
• Preparation, review and presentation of budgets, forecasts and Medium Range Plans (MRPs) for the Formats team and the EMEA marketing team overheads
• Prepare concise and insightful management reporting to help commercial teams understand performance, the level of risk within their plans and detailed variance analysis
• To become an expert in RPM (our sales planning system) and Essbase (our forecasting system) to a mentor level

Analysis & Insight:
• Support stakeholders in the global, ancillary revenue, formats and EMEA marketing teams with insightful business analysis
• Work closely with the Global Digital team to ensure that the models are transparent, accurate and meet the needs of approval processes
• Understand emerging new revenue drivers and ways of adding value with a view to making sure that they are communicated, planned for, and analyzed correctly

Control and Risk Management:
• Ensure the timely and accurate approval of new initiatives and deals in line with the company Chart of Authority
• Create and maintain appropriate business and financial controls for all forecast, planning and reporting processes
• Work closely with the Global Tax team, legal and the Order To Cash team to make sure that deals with global clients are drawn up in a way that is fully compliant with tax obligations
• Maintain a high understanding of Risk Management. Challenge and advise management if necessary
• Be the key liaison between FP&A and the RTR, PTP, OTC, Stat and Tax and Home Office teams for the Global, Ancillary, Marketing and Formats activities running out of the London office
• Understand and improve SPE's working capital position related to those activities
• Establish and ensure adherence to Sony accounting policies and IFRS

Projects and Continuous Improvement:
• Continually work to drive efficiency through the elimination, standardization, optimization, automation and roboticization of processes and tasks
• Be a lead on the implementation of system improvements

Initiate, lead and support projects as required

Job Requirements

Knowledge of:
• Typically 7-8 years experience in Media or Technology sectors and a strong understanding of digital products
• The ideal candidate will have a mix of financial management experience including financial reporting, internal and operational controls, budgeting, and forecasting, planning and business development.
• Proficient knowledge of IFRS standards,
• Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SAP financial system experience preferred.

Skill in:
• Strong organization skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
• Critical thinker and business partner with excellent written and verbal communication, and executive meeting presence. Is able to communicate effectively with senior operational and financial management.

Ability to:
• Ability to operate effectively in a deadline driven environment, managing competing priorities and independently managing projects through completion
• Proactive, self-starter and independent thinker, with strong ability to collaborate across team environment.

Language skills: French, German, Spanish or Italian useful but not essential
