Job Description
Director, Digital Asset Management & Data Compliance

Sony Digital Asset Management (DAM) is a part of the larger Content Mastering and Delivery Group at the studio and files come into us from a variety of sources, both internal (Global Marketing teams) and external (Vendors/Networks and Production Companies). The Sony DAM team is a group of asset-archivists who optimize file visibility and file fluidity on an enterprise-level through the qualitative-improvement of data at the file-level.

We do this by setting both asset-flow, and metadata-application standards (and ensuring governance of same) while simultaneously organizing and archiving all manner of video, image, audio, and document assets into one of Sony's main digital-file-repositories. The file-repository, combined with the technical, informational, and legal data that we apply - acts as the jumping off point for all future access, servicing, and distribution of the Ad-Pub and Sales & Marketing files we handle.
Our data normalization protocols improve SEO, facilitate automations, and enable analytics. In this way the Sony DAM team supports the corporate-wide initiatives of asset re-use and sharing, data and information-transparency, and the company-wide efforts to create efficiencies. Simply put: our role is to curate and conserve Sony's digital assets, but our real value-add is in our applied metadata.

Responsibilities:
• Determine and execute large-scale DAM projects using the resources on the Sony DAM team. Ensure that team, department, and Sony goals are in alignment and prioritized as needed.
• Work closely with all Sony Departments and teams (both L.A. and globally based) to insure maximum reach/impact regarding large scale DAM initiatives.
• Create, define, and document all archiving data vocabularies and terms. Socialize these vocabularies and terms out to all collaborating teams, clients, and their vendors. Ensure usage-adherence.
• Conduct On-Boarding meetings for new Vendors and new client-teams.
• Responsible for day-to-day client needs and timelines being met for all incoming Ad-Pub (resolve any client conflicting deadlines between client groups).
• Create and ensure all final governance/compliance oversight mechanisms regarding ingest and archiving of assets (with regard to established protocols, standards, and specs).
• Ensure all workflows support governance/compliance.
• Provide awareness on all projects/goals/challenges to Sr. Director
• Provide solutions, propose path forward scenarios
• Research, create, and amend all workflow and protocol docs to keep up with new and/or changing department or client needs.
• Interact with Sony vendors, Prod Companies, Networks, and Internal Sony teams to ensure a synergy of awareness on all things DAM.

Requirements:
• 10+ years combined experience in Digital Asset Management and Video Editing, or previous Sony DAM experience.
• Bachelors degree preferred
• Understanding of the following:
• Metadata (as core enterprise asset)
• Data Standards & Governance
• Data Queries & Audits
• Data Normalization & Scrubbing
• Search Engine Optimization
• File Access and Security in Runner (and/or other platforms)
• Publishing and Distribution (of files)
• Analytics & Reporting
• File Naming Conventions
• I/O Workflows (From Procurement to Distribution)
• Data Mapping & Integrations

Skills:
• Excellent written and spoken communication
• Extreme attention to detail, terminology, taxonomy, and nomenclature
• An ability to produce logic-statement (if/then statement) based wording to DMG regarding programming FNC's into Templates and other programmable-archiving-tools.
• A high level of ability to work with and organize large amounts of hierarchical and relational metadata within spreadsheets and other databases.
• Ability to create and communicate reporting queries to identify anomalous, incorrect, or bad data in large asset groups.
• A keen familiarity with all Ad-Pub media and Marketing Trends
• An ability to correctly assess and prioritize incoming deliveries to ensure client timeline-needs are met
• Ability to pivot team's focus when and as necessary - to accommodate rush or other priority needs
