Coordinator, Disaster Recovery
SPE IT Disaster Recovery program provides services to reduce the business impact of an outage for SPE critical applications by minimizing risks and ensuring appropriate resources are in place to recover in the event of an unplanned service interruption caused by a disaster. This role is responsible for managing the logistics, communications, coordination, and managing technical issue logs involved with restoring the Sony Pictures Entertainment's critical IT computer systems and applications of a business following a disaster.
The main responsibility of this position is working with SPE IT line of business application owners who are executing the disaster recovery testing to confirm that all disaster recovery plans are up to date and working appropriately according to the defined requirements. This position is also responsible for providing an appropriate, service continuity capability that is consistently monitored to ensure that the detection of any problems or deficiencies which may impact our ability to recover are escalated to the appropriate SPE's governing body. This position is involved in a wide variety of tasks and associated responsibilities to understand business requirements, BIA (Business Impact Analysis), critical IT applications, and range of IT services. This position will also be working with SPE's Business Continuity and Crisis Management teams to integrate and assist Information Technology's Disaster Recovery plans with the overall SPE's Business Continuity Plans (BCP)
Responsibilities
• Perform Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning & risk assessment activities
• Develop and maintain a business-critical Disaster Recovery Program that ensures high availability of IT systems and services in a 7x24 service delivery model
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery and resumption plans and runbooks for the critical processes and systems that are core to the organization's continued business operations in the event of a disruption
• Partner with appropriate stakeholders to set recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) for business-critical application and core business services
• Assist in developing the company's IT infrastructure strategy and roadmap to incorporate and align with disaster recovery and business continuity requirements
• Partner with infrastructure and application support teams to develop and maintain executable disaster recovery and systems resilience plans for core business technologies
• Coordinate vendor relations for IT Disaster Recovery and lead efforts for resilience testing and validation
• Design, coordinate and execute periodic disaster recovery tests for critical IT services, technology components and business processes including actual failovers to ensure disaster readiness
• Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct resilience impact analyses, validate processes, collect lessons learned and revise systems resilience plans accordingly
• Provide reports with recommendations to IT leadership on Disaster Recovery and Business continuity strategy including procedure and technology solutions
• Collect and provide evidentiary documentation of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity tests to support internal and external audits
Test Planning and Coordination
• Leads and coordinates all activities required in IT Disaster Recovery planning process, including continuity planning, recover support and systems recovery.
• Facilitates the development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
• Initiates meetings with SPE's line of business in determining recovery objectives, providing best practices and appropriate DR strategy with help of various IT support teams.
• Develops disaster recovery scenarios and contingency plans for computing environment.
• Coordinates and manages all activities during disaster recovery process.
• Develops and designs disaster recovery plans, tests and exercises.
• Evaluates plans to ensure they cover all potential events.
• Coordinates the execution of exercise strategies, test scorecards, and reports
Administration
• Maintains an understanding of current audit and regulatory policies that pertain to business continuity and Disaster recovery.
• Participates in IT Crisis management meeting
• Participates in IT Change Management meeting
• Participates in SPE's DR applications meeting when there are changes in the environment
Planning and Documentation
• Develops and maintains DR documentation including Issue Logs and Schedule Logs.
• Develops and maintains policies and standards for Disaster Recovery of SPE's critical IT applications.
• Works with vendors of disaster recovery services and facilities to understand their recovery capabilities.
• Makes recommendations for policy/procedure updates and changes based on knowledge of current audit and regulatory policies and industry best practices.
Qualifications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)
• Good documentation skills along with the ability to train junior level personnel
• Desire to expand responsibilities beyond initially defined job responsibilities to support emerging needs within the organization
• Ability to effectively aggregate, organize, and present information
