Editor, Scripps News (Temporary)
Scripps News is seeking a talented Editor to join our dynamic national news team in Atlanta for a temporary assignment. This is an exciting opportunity to craft compelling visual stories that inform and engage audiences across multiple platforms.
As an Editor, you'll play a crucial role in bringing stories to life by integrating visual content and audio material to create high-quality, impactful journalism. You'll collaborate with producers, multi-media journalists, and photojournalists to ensure every piece meets the high standards of the Scripps News brand.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Capture visual content and edit long-form stories and content
• Work with producers, multi-media journalists and photojournalists to ensure a high quality product consistent with the shows brand
• Responsible for operating various equipment, including but not limited to video camera and video editing equipment
• Maintain video archive filing system
• Gathers story related materials (sound and video) on a timely basis
• Coordinates remote and studio events, creating synergy between remote and studio productions
• Collaborates with field teams and affiliates on breaking stories, sharing of information
• Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Associate's degree in journalism or related field preferred or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Proficiency in non-linear editing, including Final Cut Pro
• Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the Web site
• Self-starter, ability to work in a team environment, performing wide range of functions in a boundary-less way
• Able to work under pressure and meet multiple daily deadlines
