European Language Lead (12 Month Contract)
Our Publishing Strategy and Operations team provides overarching strategic and operational support to Publishing teams and live operational support for players around the world. This team works in close collaboration across Games, Entertainment, Enterprise and Esports pillars to enhance the player experience.

The Language Lead for European Languages will help translate emotions rather than words, reshape (or adopt when needed) the use of gamer slang, recreate top literary beauty, and be part of an evergreen, expanding global community.

The European Languages Language Lead will be accountable for setting the stage so that Riot can deliver a high quality and authentic localized experience that feels native to its players across Europe, aligned with the global Localization and Publishing Strategies. The European Languages Language Lead is expected to help other localization functions, products and external vendors to define and implement mechanisms to hit their quality bars, and guide key decisions around the markets' specific requirements. The Language Lead for European Languages will also work along the brand teams across Europe , designing sustainable and evergreen strategies that integrate the interests and sensitives of players in the region, and will infuse these strategies in linguistic teams. The main goals of this role are to build localization excellence in service providers, create and maintain guidelines for external partners, foster team's clear focus on quality, create communication and collaboration mechanisms between brand teams and linguists, and improve the authentic player experience.

This will be a 12 month contract role Based in Dublin

Responsibilities:

In this role, your responsibilities may evolve over time to align with the changing needs of our organization.
• Create and improve communication lines between linguist teams and regional brand teams, enabling a robust collaboration between linguists and stakeholders
• Manage prioritization of content and facilitate the validation of localization decisions around high priority campaigns, terminology and assets with stakeholders
• Gain product knowledge and awareness of metrics and data for audiences in Europe and define quality expectations through research, insights methodologies and feedback from the brand teams alongside the gaming community
• Based on stakeholder and player feedback, as well as regional publishing strategy, facilitate definition of tone of voice and style across the whole player experience, including development of style guides, glossaries and strategy decks for products and campaigns
• Work closely with Language Management, Localization Operations and Partner Management teams to define the standards of excellence for linguists supporting European languages
• Streamline localization related tactics in regional marketing campaigns across Europe

Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years experience in a language-centric localization role in the gaming industry
• 2+ years of experience in managing multilingual localization teams with focus in European languages
• Professional fluency in English
• Understanding of gaming communities across Europe and their high level expectations
• Understanding of historical, political and recent social trends across Europe
• Knowledge of Riot product portfolio across Gaming, Entertainment and Esports

Desired Qualifications:
• Player empathy and a deep understanding of the value of services delivered
• Academic education in a linguistics-related subject area
• Experience in market research implementations
