Job Description
Lead GenAI Engineer (6-month contract)
Join us on a journey into the unknown.
Our Innovation Lab is seeking a Lead GenAI Engineer to lead the design, development, and ongoing infrastructure powering our next-generation AI workflows, tools, and platform. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll architect scalable systems and solve complex technical challenges across local, server, and cloud based deployments. In addition, you will mentor a small team of developers working at the crossroads of engineering and creativity.
This role demands a high degree of autonomy, strategic vision, and critical problem solving as we build entirely new pipelines and workflows within the rapidly evolving ecosystem of generative AI. You must be open to building prototypes and comfortable with throwing them away. Our keyword is agileness.
Ideal candidates will also be able to compile and deploy open sourced projects within ComfyUI as ''wrappers.''

Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and deployment of our Dockerized ComfyUI pipeline.
• Design backend infrastructure to support workflows, asset syncing, and centralization.
• Architect and implement clean, scalable systems with version control, logging, and error handling.
• Build and maintain APIs for workflow execution, version updates, and user submissions.
• Manage and mentor a team of developers working across the pipeline stack.
• Review code, resolve architectural decisions, and set engineering standards for the group.
• Documentation.
• Guide long-term infrastructure strategy (when needed) and cross-platform compatibility.
• Support both centralized server and cloud-hosted model repositories.
• Plan and lead system upgrades, refactors, and infrastructure rollouts.
• Translate abstract requirements into structured, testable plans.
• Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop, implement and deploy custom nodes and ''Wrappers'' when open sourced projects are released.
• Build from source from open sourced projects.
Tech Stack:
• Python 3.12+ (clean, modular codebase standards)
• Docker / Docker Compose
• GitHub / GitHub Actions
• ComfyUI (including custom node development)
• FastAPI / Flask (for internal services)
• YAML / JSON / manifest-based configs
• psutil / watchdog / custom queue or task runners
• Familiarity with Isilon, S3, or object storage systems
Requirements:
• 5+ years experience in engineering or software development
• 2+ years leading or mentoring technical teams
• Proficiency with Docker-based deployment and local/server automation
• Strong understanding of clean code principles: modularity, testing, documentation
• ComfyUI development experience is a must!
• Familiarity with Git branching workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and system design
• Experience working in long-term codebases with multiple contributors
• Clear communication and leadership presence in both async and team environments
Nice to have:
• VFX, creative tools, or real-time pipeline experience
• Front-end development for internal tools (React, Electron, Qt)
• Experience with render farms or job queuing systems
• Contributions to open source, especially in AI
