Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Partner with Producers
• Partner with the Producers and Production Manager to complete a feature film on time and on budget
• Exercise strong leadership skills to inspire and guide a team to success
• Skillfully negotiate with both internal and external groups to solve problems and broker agreements; earn trust.
• Apply critical thinking to problem resolution; communicate needs, provide options and make recommendations; know when to listen, question, and report
• Establish a positive rapport with the Production Manager and other Managers, communicating relevant information in the spirit of collaboration and mutual support
• Responsible for moving creative inventory through the Production pipeline
• Schedule and Budget
• Partner with Department Supervisor to create and manage the department budget and schedule
• Ensure budget and schedules are current and accurate
• Create alternative strategies in the event of significant changes to story complexity and/or resources
• Communicate scheduling goals and guide the team toward milestone deliverables
• Personnel Management
• Mentor the Department Coordinator and Production Assistant: Delegate, set the tone, be the example
• Unify and motivate the department; exercise keen awareness skills
• Liaise with Producers, Production Manager and Human Resources to ensure timely and effective responses to issues or concerns
• Participate in the department's hiring, training, and performance evaluation processes
• Process and Tools
• Comprehensive understanding of the production process
• Schedule and facilitate Director reviews, team check-ins, and other relevant meetings: Set agendas, goals, monitor pace and shift priorities as needed
• Strong ability to command a room
• Look for ways to maximize efficiencies; develop collaborative practices
• Influence people and results without micromanaging
• Oversee production database input and reporting
• Support the Creative Process
• Preserve and promote Pixar's culture of respect and innovation
• Balance multiple perspectives: Individual, Department, Show and Studio; Creative and Production

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5 or more years of experience in a feature film production environment or equivalent industry experience
• Minimum 2 years managerial experience in film production or related field preferred
• Must have superior communication, feedback, and follow-through skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in feature animation production preferred

SKILLS:
• Superior budget and resource management skills
• Excellent leadership skills - experience at building teams, partnering with others, motivating creative talent, managing crew performance, and identifying and resolving personnel issues
• Excellent working knowledge of the pipeline process in feature-animation or short-animation film production, feature production, or VFX production preferred
• Ability to prioritize the department's workload with attention to schedule and budgetary limitations
• Flexibility; able to adapt to ever-changing circumstances, situations, and people
• Ability to anticipate and manage multiple tasks within a dynamic, fast-paced, and deadline-driven production environment
• Ability to maintain calm professionalism in a stressful production atmosphere
• Must be enterprising, innovative, highly organized, and resourceful
• Proficiency at Excel and Word; experience with project-planning applications and database systems a plus.
