Creates architectural and organic looking models and environments, using both manual and procedural techniques

 

Build complex, distant, and/or dynamic sets-- specific methods can play to your strengths as an artist, but skills often include 2-3 of the following: modeling, shading, dressing, painting, animation, simulation, and lighting, plus collaborating with specialists outside your skill set

Using modeling software, like ZBrush, to sculpt and refine a neutral 3D model to fit the aesthetic needs of Character Designers. Designing and maintaining a modeling topology conducive to the storyboarded range of deformations

 

Work with artists and technical leadership to propose, plan, implement, and deploy new features. Maintain and improve the software individually and collaboratively with a team of peer engineers. Work directly with technical and non-technical simulation artists to support their use of Pixar's proprietary filmmaking software

 

Work with cross-functional teams (People Operations, Recruiting, Inclusion Strategies, Leadership Development, Benefits and Wellness) to increase organizational, team, and individual performance and improve the business' capabilities to deliver against its goals

 

Partner with lighting and FX technical directors to establish and fine tune the look of assigned shots. Maintains the overall look, color balance, and quality for assigned shots and sequences to create uniformity in all finished work

 

Work with artists and technical leadership to propose, plan, implement, and deploy new features. Maintain and improve the software individually and collaboratively with a team of peer engineers

 

Process purchase orders into ERP system. Contacts vendors and places orders for goods and/or services via e-mail, internet or phone. Determines purchasing method (purchase order or credit card) for each requisition received

 

Work closely with technical leads and art directors to review and revise work as necessary to gain Production Designer and Director approval

 

Experience developing in a UNIX / Linux environment. Experience building and testing cross-platform applications (Windows, macOS, Linux). Familiarity with testing and debugging applications written in C++

 

Contribute to world-class 3D graphics software applications and frameworks that enable and support Pixar's film production

 

Monitor and automate management of our render farm computing infrastructure. Respond to inquiries from Pixar artists/engineers in regards to technical issues. Onboard and support all productions throughout the pipeline

 

Develop new or enhanced technical solutions to improve performance. Collaborate with the team to maintain and improve the core rendering systems. Refactor and rewrite existing code to improve quality, reliability and maintainability
