Job Description
We are looking for a Sales Assistant to support the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group Imprint sales team. Reporting to the SVP, Group Sales Director (GSD), this role will provide assistance to the GSD, Imprint Manager, and Title Director responsible for helping driving revenue for the division. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn about the book selling and publishing processes.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in weekly meeting preparation, pulling reporting in advance of team, reprint, deputy publisher, marketing and various meetings
• Help prepare for seasonal strategy/sales conference meetings – additional report requests (author study, backlist, trend) as well as information for monthly and seasonal meetings as needed
• Assist in adding comps to OTIS and preparing PDF packets for strategy/sales conference
• Update and distribute sales reports, such as weekly tracking grids, preorder reports, anecdotal information from reps/sales channels, in a timely manner
• Provide team with reporting and analysis for frontlist and backlist titles so we are proactively communicating with publishing and marketing
• Distribute all relevant information to sales as updates occur, including jackets, assets, etc.
• Field ad-hoc requests from GSD/IM to pull POS, OTIS and any co-op reports
• Help serve as liaison between sales and publishing for signed copies and account requests, such as tracking down sales materials (covers, dummies, etc.)
• Share relevant title information with sales reps and provide in a format that is easily shared with accounts
• Help prepare PowerPoint presentations for imprint sales reviews on a bi-annual basis
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and approach tasks proactively
• Ability to successfully prioritize and work on multiple projects at a time
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Must be comfortable working with numbers
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel and PowerPoint
