Production Assistant (Open to Remote)
The Corporate Bookmaking team seeks a Production Assistant to join us in supporting both the Random House Publishing and PRH Christian Publishing groups. We are responsible for producing paperback and hardcover books in 1/c and 4/c illustrated editions for a diverse set of imprints that include Ballantine, Bantam, Convergent, Delacorte, Dell, Del Rey, The Dial Press, Harmony, Inklore, The Modern Library, Multnomah, One World, Random House, Random House Worlds, Rodale, and WaterBrook.
This role involves tracking book materials among in-house departments and vendors, maintaining schedules, generating cost estimates, archiving digital assets, and purchasing both promotional materials and final books. The Production Assistant will report to a senior staff member but will also provide administrative support for the entire department. We're looking for a highly motivated candidate who loves books and demonstrates an enthusiasm for learning about book manufacturing and bringing books to life.
The Role:
• Archive and retrieve digital assets, and transmit materials for e-book production.
• Manage promotional materials, which includes coordinating schedules, estimating costs, creating covers, purchasing, tracking materials and reviewing invoices
• Update data in our FileMaker Pro and SAP databases; compile and distribute various reports
• Provide general administrative support to the Production team, including attending department meetings, recording and posting meeting notes, sending packages, and watermarking PDF files for internal distribution.
• With training, will learn how to produce books
Essential Qualifications:
• Able to manage multiple projects and schedule tasks effectively.
• Keen attention to detail
• Ability to work and learn independently as well as part of a team
• Capacity for anticipating problems and proposing solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Interest in expanding skills through available training in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Bridge) a plus
• Basic math skills
• Candidate has a comfortable home work environment or ability to commute to PRH offices
The position is open to remote candidates.
The salary or salary range for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
