Associate Manager/Manager, National Accounts - (Tri-State Area)

We are seeking two National Account Managers / Associate Managers to sell frontlist and backlist Penguin Random House Adult titles to Barnes & Noble. In these highly visible roles, one Manager will sell titles from the Ballantine and Bantam Dell imprints, publishers of huge commercial successes such as Jodi Picoult, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Danielle Steel, Nicholas Sparks, Lee Child, and so many more; the other will sell titles from the Viking, Dutton, Penguin Books, and Penguin Classics imprints, home to award-winning and bestselling authors including Amor Towles, Adam Grant, Richard Osman, and Riley Sager.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Maximizing sales growth within the established account base by acquiring and renewing orders.
• Preparing and presenting all relevant titles and special promotions to account.
• Attending and participating in internal meetings including launch, sales, and marketing meetings.
• Working closely with each imprint on title development and strategy.
• Meeting with B&N on a regular basis (in person and virtual) to sell new lists and backlist, gather feedback on sell-through, obtain account news, highlight author event opportunities, and acquire other industry-related information.
• Communicating regularly with sales management and Publishing regarding account activities, including reorders, account strategy, etc.

Please apply if you meet the following minimum requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years of sales experience, including directly interacting with accounts to be considered at the Associate Manager level; Minimum of 4 years of sales experience, including direct selling experience to be considered at the Manager level
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with public speaking preferred
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work well under pressure, follow up as needed, and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Ability to regularly visit Barnes & Noble's home office and meet with B&N colleagues in NYC with minimal notice
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Prior publishing experience is preferred

The salary at the Associate Manager, National Account level is $63,000; the salary range at the Manager, National Account level is $70,000 - $73,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
