Sr. Manager, Corporate Security & Operations

Team: Facilities & Administration

Status: Full Time/Regular/Exempt

The Sr. Manager manages operational services provided to PBS employees and guests, ensuring that operations will take place in a safe secure work space. Among the responsibilities for this role – safety compliance, security risk and loss management, event security, incident management and emergency response, business continuity, physical security system management and enforcing PBS's safety and security policies and regulations in the workplace. The Sr. Manager is also responsible for ensuring the preparedness of the organization to respond appropriately to emergencies that could affect the business operation. In addition, the Sr. Manager supports and assists senior director with corporate insurance requirements.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate PBS's security program for office access by employees. Includes managing an employee photo database of all staff in the PBS facility, including temporary employees, consultants, interns and contractors.

• Maintain local Incident Management Program and emergency notification service that alerts employees to conditions that could impact personal and corporate security.

• Conduct detailed site Security and Health & Safety Assessments and work with appropriate management to rectify any problems/concerns encountered.

• Oversee the corporate Emergency Response Team (ERT), coordinating ERT staffing requirements for each floor and training the team members on building evacuation and emergency response procedures.

• Manage and coordinate delivery of emergency response training, safety training and other programs through vendors and other personnel in the field.

• Regularly review and amend existing emergency response plans for the organization.

• Provides guidance and execution of the business continuity and organization wide disaster recovery plan.

• Supervise contracted security personnel to ensure compliance with all protocols, while maintaining high standards and professional conduct, ensuring staff is properly performing duties through routine inspections and audits of assigned shifts.

• Work closely with security officers, alert administration management in the event of suspicious activity or threat.

• Respond, investigate, and report all information in regards to theft, alarms, accidents, injuries, and other incidents that may occur at the assigned sites.

• Manage new employee safety and security orientation, ergonomics, and other onsite safety and security programs.

• Coordinate security support at company events in support of the executive team or other business units.

• Develop and enforce office compliance with Corporate Safety and Security guidelines and Corporate Policies.

• Regularly review and amend existing emergency response plans for physical and cyber incidents that impact the organization.

• Demonstrate a proven ability to guide organization through emergency situations through problem analysis.

• Maintain liaisons with police, fire & emergency response departments in our office jurisdictions (Arlington and Fairfax counties).

• Prepare and activate regular testing of emergency plans with employees at both office locations.

• Provide assistance to Senior Director with materials that are required to maintain corporate insurance coverages and aid employees with insurance materials as needed.

• Oversee contract management to include vending and catering services provided in PBS offices, managing security vendors, budgets and approving invoices and expenses.

• Manage special assigned projects which could include budgeting, product assessment, and technical installation.

• Partner with HR (Benefits) on various employee incentives and programs.

Requirements for success:
• Minimum 5 years in corporate security & emergency response management

• Minimum 3 years experience with risk management and contract preparation

• Bachelor's degree required

• Experience in role where they had responsibility for making life safety decisions

• Demonstrated knowledge of operations of electronic access control and CCTV systems and the ability to read and understand floor plans, diagrams, and system schematics

• Corporate investigative experience and previous Law Enforcement or related government experience preferred

• Strong customer service mentality and desire to create programs that drive positive brand and improved work experiences

• Strong working knowledge of PC computers, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams applications. High level of database management of access control and employee identification systems also required

• Requires coordination and relationship management skills to ensure cooperation from internal and external stakeholders (PBS employees at all levels, building management, security guards, contractors, visitors & vendors)

• Must have the ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual and stressful circumstances

• Demonstrated exceptional communication and organizational skills, project, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and oversee multiple events concurrently, demonstrating a skill in multitasking

• Demonstrated strategic thinking related to assigned events and security issues

• Ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities while delivering high quality results with flawless execution

• Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization

• Dedication to detail with the ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment

• Flexibility, composure and the ability to adapt to change in a dynamic environment

• Self-motivated, with the ability to successfully work both independently and within a team

• Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills that contribute to effective decision making
