The Social Media Executive will collaborate with the Social Media Manager to deliver all social media for Channel 5, covering a broad range of disciplines, including paid and organic, social platform strategy, community management, as well as social analytics and insights.
The role will build and execute innovative and effective social campaigns and content that drive core critical metrics of awareness and intent amongst new audiences, and retention among existing viewers. In partnership with the wider Channel 5 teams the Social Media team will develop and deliver best in class locally developed and crafted social content. The team has direct responsibility for Channel 5 across all social platforms. There is unparalleled autonomy within the team. What will you be doing?
Channel and Community Management
• Contribute to audience growth across Channel 5's social media accounts and drive engagement with established communities
• Deliver the social output, evaluating the opportunities to drive audience engagement, talkability around programming and ultimately TV viewing
• Support on and deliver content uploads, scheduling, and publishing for the branded social accounts prioritising Facebook, and using Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or TikTok
• Curate, write, edit, and publish social posts ensuring copy is accessible to audiences and optimised for placement
• Take an active approach interacting with our audiences to drive meaningful conversation
• Deliver paid media activity for social promotion covering always-on, priority campaigns and affiliate activity (META)
Content Planning and Producing
• Watch TV shows and find chances to create social video clips that drives viewing, conversation or engagement, across owned accounts and for talent activity
• Write clear and concise content briefs to deliver on-the-fly social content for campaign activity
• Ideate, and write social content briefs for editors, freelancers and agencies to produce quality social content that is perfect for placement
• Complete file and subtitle checks to ensure social content is remarkable and ready to publish
• Source media files for use within content creation and share assets
• Support with media management to ensure social content is well organised and can be easily shared with internal teams, presenters and production companies
Social Analysis & Reporting
• Support on reporting across channel, content and community activity, finding opportunities to influence and optimise editorial output
• Monitor platforms and keep up to date with what our audiences are saying about shows
• Analyse audience insight to inform social media activity that targets, engages and gets results
• Share audience feedback with internal teams to optimise the audience experience and showcase the power of social promotion
What are we looking for?
Requireds:
• Demonstrable social media experience
• An obsession with entertainment and pop culture and able to share great social references
• Exceptional writing ability and skills to craft creative, clear, and engaging copy with the highest standards of accuracy
• Editorial judgement and demonstrable experience as a creative thinker and problem solver
• Demonstrated experience working on a brand or channel on Facebook (META)
• Proven ability to confidently and effectively proofread copy and subtitles
• Strong organisational skills and ability to thrive in fast paced team environment
• Proven ability to work to tight deadlines, thrive under pressure and problem solve at pace
• Demonstrable ability to prioritise and own your own workload
Preferred:
• Experience working within the Entertainment industry (TV, SVOD, News or Publishing)
• Previous experience with social content production; Adobe Photoshop and/or Premiere
• Demonstrated experience community managing a social page with an engaged community
• Previous experience producing video creative working with editors, designers and producers
• Experience with flighting and reporting on paid social campaigns (META)
• Knowledgeable about the television or broadcasting industry
• Experience within a matrixed organisation
