Broadcast Associate / Assistant, CBS Evening News

Overview:

Assistant to the Anchor and Managing Editor of the CBS Evening News. The ideal candidate is a team player with passion for news and attention to detail. They must be able to prioritize and multi-task while adhering to strict deadlines. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is hungry to learn. Must be flexible and willing to work holidays and weekends as news demands.

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Anchor and Managing Editor of the CBS Evening News and will be responsible for the calendar and contact management, expense report creation and submission, and travel booking and logistics.
• Will field, manage, and help prioritize a high volume of requests related to the Anchor's role and responsibilities, including coordinating schedules and communication with CBS executives, talent, broadcast staff, as well as external contacts.
• Produce accurate, daily research on deadline for the Evening News, other CBS programs such as 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning, as well as meetings and other assignments for the anchor.
• Assist Anchor team with long term project and story planning.
• Contribute content for social media, and help manage social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
• Imperative that the candidate has the ability to handle sensitive and sometimes confidential information with propriety.
• This position will include some weekends, nights and overnight hours for breaking news and planned events as warranted.

Qualifications:
• Internship or comparable experience working on a news broadcast is a plus.
• College degree in communications, journalism or political science is preferred.
• Must be proactive and self-motivated and able to work under tight deadline pressure.
• Must be able to juggle multiple priorities on any given day.
• Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, holidays, and/or weekends as news warrants.
• Must have a valid passport and driver's license
